Poor. It's poor. And I don't feel like it's safe to discuss anything else about it here.

I know this is a stressful time for a lot of people, but if any of the Usual Suspects have time for a chat this weekend or next week, online or mmmaybe in person, I could really use that.

On the other hand, I found the original demos of A-ha's "Take on Me" (look for "Juicy Fruit Song" and "Lesson One") so I got that goin' for me, which is nice.

You know what I could really use right now?

Confuse-A-Cat. Like from the Python sketch. (youtube.com/watch?v=B2Je1CEPkU)

@anthracite does provide a lot of good confusion services, but I need a professional. Maybe it's time to hit the legendary Psychotronic Film room at Scarecrow video. Or see how deep I can get into Deep Youtube.

Otherwise, having a pleasantly dull evening. Played Stellaris and procrastinated on work-work all day. But I got ahead on the weekend, so now it's four more hours of write-ups and I'm done for the week. God, I'm grateful I don't have to work sane office hours and can do stuff like this.

Everything else is just weird and complicated right now, but I'm more or less okay.

I want pastries. Really good ones. :|

Oh, and Peg made me a cardboard space fortress, so I got that going for me. 🐯

Had a fun morning with Peg, watching her open her tongue-in-cheek present. (It was one of those bouquets of plush dragons on special from ThinkGeek. I think I'd describe her reaction as "entertainingly nonplussed.")

Kinda melancholy otherwise, still processing how I failed Buni and Keet. Any silence or evasiveness on the topic from this point is probably just an attempt to cultivate a little patience and approach things with the delicacy I catastrophically failed to before.

once again I have worked so hard on a good solid guilt ridden depression and once again that dragon has to go and ruin it by looking up youtube videos of that anthropomorphic typewriter from sesame street and engaging me in nostalgia about THIS creep:

Cripes, I'd forgotten how good hot pepper jelly is, especially on latkes with sour cream and a little kraut.

I need to get back out to Pike Place Market and get another jar of the GOOD stuff, preferably with as many X's on the label as possible.

I see this is going to be one of those mornings that I spend debating cat philology instead of actually working... awoo.space/media/fThTQNynY5FQP

This is what you sound like if you invoke "basic biology" to justify your transphobia.

I could really use a new game to keep the panicky overanalytical parts of my brain occupied.

In particular, a random reference to character classes and races made me realize I'm in the mood for something with a COMPLICATED-ASS character system... and preferably, as little other game as possible.

I mean, I want something a half-step up from a GURPS spreadsheet. XD Preferably turn-based and compatible with being run in the background. But any rec for stat-wank gaming is welcome 😺

Never play as the human class after your first go-around.

Evaluation months make me feel like the Inspector Javert of the Mumbai Global Information Systems set. Curse me for being so good at turning up these poor kids' mistakes. -_-

Recuperating and ruminating a lot. Mostly okay, but still getting the occasional wave of sadness and regret, and the occasional urge to make sad kitty noises at the world in general. In the absence of powerful veterinary anesthetics am instead binging The Office (US).

Also feeling a bit bad about skipping the big counterprotest today, but... well, it's complicated and involves a whole lot of personal and philosophical issues. Best of luck to all who are attending, and please be safe.

"In 2002, conceptual artist Jonathon Keats sponsored a petition to get Berkeley, Calif., to acknowledge Aristotle’s identity law, commonly expressed as A=A.

His law would impose a misdemeanor fine of up to one-tenth of a cent on anyone or anything caught being unidentical to itself within city limits.

Unfortunately, Keats gathered only 65 signatures and found no backers on the city council. Berkeley, apparently, prefers ambiguity."

He said that the Creator, if he exists, has 'an inordinate fondness for beetles.'"

mild orthocosmic grumble

Aaand just as I sit down to polish off the last of my workweek, start the weekend, and recuperate, I remember our entire work system's shut down for the day.

This is so trivial. Basically, I work Saturday and take today off. But it costs a whole Action Point to switch from Work Mode to Creative Mode these days, and I've got some nasty AP-draining status conditions.

Thank goodness I've got a full liter of cold-brewed mana potion and a half-ounce of, um, Phoenix Down. O:)

Spending $200 of your disposable income on a jumpsuit as a Marxist statement, because it offers an ineffectual "gotcha" to a right-wing celebrity, has got to be the most BoingBoing thing I've ever seen. This is the dumbest political activism since the Proud Boys bought Keurigs just to smash them.
