City planning, city centers / downtowns
The center of any city - downtown - is almost always the commercial center.
Sure, there might be a library or a government building, but it's secondary.
Downtown is built around those rows of shops and restaurants.
Your schools aren't there.
Your hospitals aren't there.
Your housing isn't there.
And in a capitalist world - that makes sense. The market is literally at the center. And everything else is built around it.
But in a world without money - it doesn't.
