@Crocabit Only Real gamers Know
@poss_bot @Moot @KommaChameleon @Crocabit this thread is ending my life
@ShugoWah @poss_bot @Moot @KommaChameleon @Crocabit of course, it's hard to beat anyone using such an advanced control method as this
http://llg.cubic.org/docs/prohance70.jpg
@ShugoWah @poss_bot @Moot @KommaChameleon @Crocabit or even the dreaded dual Namco rotary controller combo. How do you even compete with that?
@KommaChameleon @Felthry @ShugoWah @Moot @Crocabit (listen i kinda actually want this bc i have a copy of VOOT for DC)
@poss_bot @KommaChameleon @ShugoWah @Moot @Crocabit what's VOOT?
@Felthry @poss_bot @Galuade @ShugoWah @Moot @Crocabit Virtual On is a one-on-one mecha fighting game from the 90s featuring a behind-the-back camera and a dual stick control scheme. It's played split screen or on separate displays.
VOOT is "Virtual On Ontario Tangram", the Dreamcast version of the game.
@Felthry WHOOPS I kinda typed it wrong, it's "Oratorio Tangram". It's a pretty thesaurus name but
Oratorio = a large-scale opera
Tangram = a puzzle about rearranging shapes
So it's basically a fancy way of saying "Virtual On: Grand Remix". Tangram is also the name of one of the game's villains.
@KommaChameleon that's still a rather strange name.
@KommaChameleon though I guess plenty of games have really strange names. Radiant Historia, Infinite Undiscovery, Exist Archive

@poss_bot @ShugoWah @KommaChameleon Kingdom Hearts Re: Chain of Memories
@poss_bot @ShugoWah @KommaChameleon also Legend of Dragoon
@poss_bot @ShugoWah @KommaChameleon which would probably make sense if it had an article in there and I think it actually does but the logo makes it very unclear whether it's The Legend of Dragoon or Legend of the Dragoon
@Galuade @Felthry @poss_bot @KommaChameleon BIO F.R.E.A.K.S.
@ShugoWah @Galuade @poss_bot @KommaChameleon oh, Lunar: Silver Star Story is kind of awkwardly worded
@ShugoWah @Galuade @poss_bot @KommaChameleon also, a number of Square games: Final Fantasy itself, and Breath of Fire, Chrono Trigger, Chrono Cross, ~~Chrono Break~~, maybe Vagrant Story
@Felthry @ShugoWah @Galuade @KommaChameleon Capcom vs. SNK 2: Mark of the Millenium 2001
@poss_bot @Felthry @ShugoWah @KommaChameleon Armored Core for Answer
@KommaChameleon @Galuade @poss_bot @ShugoWah oh also Eternal Sonata, as well as quite a lot of the Tales games (what is Phantasia supposed to mean? what about Berseria or Vesperia? Abyss is maybe the only one that really makes sense)
@Felthry @Galuade @poss_bot @ShugoWah Eternal Sonata = pianist Frédéric Chopin is on his deathbed but his music will live on forever
Most tales games are words with some syllables shifted so they sound like place names. Best guesses:
Phantasia = Fantasy place
Vesperia = Vesper (evening) place ?
Berseria = Berserk place (because your protagonist is extremely bloodthirsty)
@KommaChameleon @Galuade @poss_bot @ShugoWah Never played Berseria so I don't know. I do think Tales of Xillia probably counts though, considering that Xillia just came from "XIII looks like Xill and then let's add the -ia ending that every other tales game has" because it was the thirteenth game
@KommaChameleon @Galuade @poss_bot @ShugoWah for what is actually a very serious game
@ShugoWah @Galuade @poss_bot @KommaChameleon and Dragon Quest frequently has nothing to do with dragons
@ShugoWah @Galuade @poss_bot @KommaChameleon and other Enix games: Act Raiser, Soul Blazer, Star Ocean Til the End of Time, Robot Alchemic Drive
@KommaChameleon @ShugoWah @Galuade @poss_bot oh absolutely; it's the Til the End of Time bit that doesn't make sense
@KommaChameleon @ShugoWah @Galuade @poss_bot maybe I haven't played it recently enough to remember that, I just remember the plot went _really weird_ at the end
