Glowtide is the postfurry-standard winter-solstice celebration! In the Neptunian and Downwarp calendars, is it marked by a period of intercalary days around the darkest point in the year, and traditionally includes a ritual where we gather up a bunch of folks and treats and most importantly ✨GLOWY✨STUFF✨ to help encourage the light to start coming back!

@indi I was actually thinking about Glowtide the other day! Appreciating how folks here are genuinely trying to build new culture where the existing one doesn't meet our needs.
Like, Glowtide isn't just " that annual party that Indi etc throws". It's "The midwinter party, currently habitually hosted by Indi etc."
And I think that's super cool actually.

The idea pre-existed our ability to throw an in-person party about it; it actually goes waaaaay back to a roleplay on Puzzlebox in late 2004 which was a huge comfort to me when I had just moved to a tiny apartment in a new city after college.
@indi I think it would be so cool if people were having Glowtide parties in 50 years.
@starkatt And it's sorta been carried through, picking up the current name after we remixed the Downwarp concept in a Neptunian context (So around 2010 maybe?). Annnd here I am, spreading the word about it in brand new places. ^.^
@indi Meanwhile, I still have three weeks to Bandaza, which means I have about a week to finish up the story of the Great Feast.
