Yeah, but what if 2017 is basically like a gigantic sociocultural puke after our 70-year-long capitalism bender?
America was poisoned on its own junk long BEFORE all this. It just didn't give a fuck because it was still having a great time.
Now it's the morning after and it's finally staring into the mirror, feeling like shit as it so richly deserves to, and debating whether it's gonna finally get its shit together or cook up another spoonful of corruption.

@zebratron2084 YES THIS. YESSSSSS. I have *got* to get together with you soon after I get back, I need a dose of political cynical-optimism. XD

@zebratron2084 lets be honest: There is real positive /discussion/ happening. It's a good first step, but we're by no means done yet.

@zebratron2084 @zebratron2084 *looks up, startled, holding what looks like a restaurant-supply-sized tin of butterscotch pudding labelled "CORRUPTION", spoon paused mid-path with a precariously-balanced glob of the stuff, face and "USA" shirt spattered*
Whoa, whoa.... You don't expect us to change our habits, do you?
*glob falls from spoon to lap*

I mean, I've been a radical leftist for about a quarter of a century now. I essentially went steady with Karl Marx's pet coyote for fifteen years. ( Miss you. <3 ) I remember when about a quarter of my friends were libertarians, because about half of nerds were libertarians. I remember getting mocked on Livejournal for proposing general strikes.
Now they're talking about basic income and LGBT rights in fuckin' Forbes. There is real positive change happening.
