(nice small storm moving through Seattle right now. Heralded by a single incredibly loud crack of thunder- easily the loudest all year. Now the heaviest rain in a while too. All from a storm that barely covers the sound and is leaving by the time I finish this toot :))

Parker found a wasp? nest on his walk, poor thing. Got stung several times on the leg it seems. He was really favoring it at first- Soreth had to carry him home- but seems better now. Still not having a good night but he's walking gingerlyand not in shock.

Called Mom to see how she was doing because she was sick earlier. I told her about him and she...started laughing?!

Things I was not expecting yesterday: We brought the dog to the Lake Washington beach. Now, he doesn't like going outside on the porch when it's wet, or down into the grass to pee, so we weren't expecting much.

Huh. Brought the dog to PetSmart to get some things. As we're leaving I'm standing by a short (7 ft ish) tree and I hear a croak.

Look up and there's a crow I hadn't noticed. They don't fly off, just stand there croaking and grumbling at me. Wonder if they were camping the door and asking for treats. Usually they aren't bold enough to just stand there in arms reach!

(granted the tree kept me from getting to them but still)

I really do feel sometimes that modern UIs are designed by people who grew up with Clippy and thought "You know what this needs? More intrusive and annoying!"

I'm still not sure if that was sharing, "hey stupid did you know these have food in them?" or what. But it was VERY deliberate.

The weirdest, most hilarious thing is still what one of the jays did a few weeks back. We were putting out peanuts for around 4 of them. One of them grabbed a big peanut, the kind with two nuts in it.

They shelled the peanut, ate one of the nuts and...

...brought the other one back. Laid it neatly on the railing and returned to the tree.

Crows on the trees outside as I put out peanuts: still DEEPLY dubious.

Jays: OOH PEANUT. *peanuts are gone as soon as I turn around*
