I don’t smoke pot, but I’d love to name strains

Watermelon but Good
Horny Tuesday
Barber Hair
Barber Hair 2: The Rebarbening
Grandmas Prune Juice
Donald Dank

Somehow as-yet unused cannabis strain names.

@RobinHood As a somewhat experienced stoner disappointed with strain names at large, may I suggest some more?

Gerbil's Breath

Screaming Purple Zonker
Morningstar
Fluttershy's Stare
Fire Flower
Better than "Cats"
Lemon Buster
What Day Is It
Durian OG
A Wizard Did It

My therapist has directly recommended that I continue to be a unicorn.

Solipsism doesn't seem correct, but maybe it's just me

[1.Ch.] "Speed" "Run"

@ElectricKeet just pulled off their first LttP flipperless.

First try, too.

ALttP flipperless glitch achieved on first try!

Yup, popped in a rando with my in-progress @millimax@high.cat sprite, got to playing with @orrery helping on the tracker, and they suggested I could try flipperless a couple times. It's an 8-frame trick...

...and I got it on the first try.

@hystericempress That's almost certainly why I remember trying to play the game and losing interest not long after getting to be a doggy for a while.

Of cannabis and parity.

Keet: "Oops. All ash!"

@orrery: "I loaded the last two bowls, this one's yours."

K: pulls bowl, moves toward weed replenishment station

O: "Oh, and there's not enough for a full bowl, so you'll have to grind fresh."

K: "Did... did you just beat me at Nim? Did you just kick my ass at a game of Weed-Nim?"

O: splays peacock fan "am bird now"

Touch Keyboards: Worst or Terriblest?

@pendragon I bought a "phone" – more like a palmtop – purely because it had a physical keyboard. It wasn't really an ideal device for me, but that's how badly I wanted a keyboard with actual physical contact. Not haptic feedback, but enough key-feel (click or depth of travel) and distance between keys that I can tell how far off each keystroke was from center and continually "auto-calibrate". Otherwise I drift like it's fuggin' Mario Kart and spray typos into everything or I have to watch the keyboard constantly and it's slow going.

hello i spent the last twelve days doing absolutely nothing but making this video game, so please play it thank you. it's about my cat and also our other cats eevee.itch.io/anise-wheres-twi

said this before but I'll say it again: there is no trend in computing I hate more than software that cops an attitude of chirpy, cloying overfamiliarity and friendliness when it's doing something evil or fucking up

"oopsie doopsie, we've had a widdle bit of a fucko-boingo"

Sung to the tune of "Old MacDonald Had a Farm":

"Mary Had a Little Lamb".

You're welcome.

re: vent

@xinjinmeng @Soreth Here's one for you: for many early videogame consoles, colors weren't stored anywhere as direct RGB values.

Some systems had fixed palettes of bewildering design (looking at you, ColecoVision and TI-99/4A and the like).

The Atari VCS and NES (not PlayChoice or PAL) did this, but with a much more organized palette based on the way the NTSC color signal works; they based palettes on the degree of color carrier phase shift (hue) and a range of luma values!

re: vent

@Soreth @xinjinmeng I've been watching a thread on the Libretro (RetroArch) forums with folks hashing out exactly what the fuck was going on with CRT-era colorspaces and why basically nobody ever built to the standards.

Color is weird, yo.

@jakebe Fae rabbit, no... but a somewhat fae pony-with-head-cone? Heck yeah. grin

re: previous boost of a snippet from an RP character's journal

Because heck yeah we want magical synthesizers played by magical robots and their friends! ✨ 🤖 🎵

vent

@xinjinmeng Aaaaaargh, this. And from the other side as well: When I was doing conbook stuff I would provide proper dimensions to folks and then get the wackiest shit in return because they never passed the info to the person who needed it to do their thing. Or, if they didn't ask me, they got bad info from another random staffer who Just Wanted To Help And Anyhow Wasn't It That Size Last Year?

sigh, hits the bong again

@rainwarrior LibreOffice has its problems, many of them crashy... but it's still pretty good! I just hope they manage an actual dark-mode interface for the Windows version sometime soon.

...and I think I'd commit more major crimes than usual to get a WordPerfect-style "View Codes" mode in the Writer module, but I've wanted that in every word processor ever since using WordPerfect 5.1 in high school. shrug
