@LexYeen Since you mention Emperor Norton I, I present part of a project which never made it to fruition:

The Duwamish tribe (from the Pacific Northwest region of present-day US and Canada) have launched a petition demanding federal recognition!

Just got my census invite, reminder that if you're in a household where someone else will fill in your info for you and you're not out about something you can request a code so you can submit your own details that will overwrite anything they put and they won't be able to find out #census #census2021

i think the amiga famous 'boing ball' demo is like, everything you need to know about the concept of illusion. it pretends to be a bouncing ball, using 3D shapes to create an image of a ball. you're impressed that it was able to draw those 3D shapes. "what a successful illusion of a ball!" you say, completely unaware that there were no 3D shapes, and no polygons, and you were fooled by the real, second-order illusion, accomplished using separate bitplanes and color cycling

PSA: If you run a mail server, don't use dnsbl-3.uceprotect.net as an RBL. It lists basically every VPS provider as a potential spam source and they charge server admins a $100/year "whitelisting fee" to get around it.

Their dnsbl-1 and -2 RBLs are based on actual spam reports.

Okay, which director would make a more appealingly terrible adaptation of "Dune"?

re: How to ADHD. (mh -)

But, on a happier note: Congrats on ten years, @zx3 – I'm genuinely glad you've kept it going for this long! Sorry I wasn't there last night. You know how it is.

How to ADHD. (mh -)

- get really involved at the start of something awesome that happens every couple weeks
- maintain involvement in that thing for a long while
- get distracted from it by other stuff twice in a row
- forget about it the next couple times
- try to resume
- get dragged away once more
- expect to return to it next time
- continually forget to do the thing until it's too late
- give up until years later when reminded that a big anniversary of the start of the thing is coming up
- plan to be there
- get dragged away by other stuff
- give up
- but not really because the brain never lets go of a thing one could maybe attend next time
- forget about it again
- repeat until dead

@starkatt Yay! Maybe now I can start walking off the quarantine 15... before it goes from pounds to kilos!

tired: baseball card in bicycle wheel spokes
wired: clapping coconut halves while on foot

@Leucrotta Oh, and in case you're curious but not conversant in IPA – not judgin', I'm not either – you can plug that into ipa-reader.xyz/ and set the voice to the very last one (Gwyneth) to hear it. I love that site.

@Leucrotta I don't know if I didn't know that or forgot it, but the mispronunciation thing is kinda wonderful! That's actually how my character Millimax comes by her name; when very young, she had trouble learning and pronouncing the clan name (/mækʃɪnɪɬjɑnᵊ/, acceptably "Anglicized" as Maximillian). She later picked it up as her art-name, and now she goes pretty much exclusively by that.

So now I ask: 23? And does it carry any particular associations, anecdotes, or the like?

@starkatt "Synthetic Is Not Artificial". Because I've been so over the whole made-of-meat thing since I was, like, count-on-one's-fingers old.

@hystericempress I have such fond memories of putting together new icons to denote general subjects. Some for City of Heroes, some for retrogaming, some for music....
