re: Them's Fightin' Herds

@porsupah Depends on how much fighting game experience you have. The easiest of the five difficulty settings allows for simple play that boils down to "react to prompt with button". It's a good place to start, and I should probably spend more time there getting comfortable with blocking and evasion before I do any more work on actual damage.

It also has a story mode I dipped into for a couple hours earlier, and so far it's like a slow piece-at-a-time tutorial. It's an overhead RPG-style thing that jumps to the fight-game part for combat. Goofy and delightful!

Them's Fightin' Herds

Okay, so I love a lot about this game, but I think it's cranked up just a leeeeetle too fast for my poor decrepit aaaaancient no-longer-fifteen-years-old hooves.

I'll keep trying for a bit anyhow. Why not. My fightstick was collecting dust anyhow.

@hystericempress One Must Fall: Battlegrounds supposedly did that, though I never played the game. I do love much of what's on the OST, though.

Now I really want to try this game, though I know I'd never be any more than an amateur at it.

why the fuck was it called mario teaches typing and not super mario prose

Just got my census invite, reminder that if you're in a household where someone else will fill in your info for you and you're not out about something you can request a code so you can submit your own details that will overwrite anything they put and they won't be able to find out #census #census2021

i think the amiga famous 'boing ball' demo is like, everything you need to know about the concept of illusion. it pretends to be a bouncing ball, using 3D shapes to create an image of a ball. you're impressed that it was able to draw those 3D shapes. "what a successful illusion of a ball!" you say, completely unaware that there were no 3D shapes, and no polygons, and you were fooled by the real, second-order illusion, accomplished using separate bitplanes and color cycling

PSA: If you run a mail server, don't use dnsbl-3.uceprotect.net as an RBL. It lists basically every VPS provider as a potential spam source and they charge server admins a $100/year "whitelisting fee" to get around it.

Their dnsbl-1 and -2 RBLs are based on actual spam reports.
