people aren't born being happy about being themselves, and if you can achieve that, even momentarily, it's because you've done a lot of hard work and growth.
Keep going, you're doing the right thing and it's working. 💛💚💙
Intellivision Amico PSA, white supremacy
In case you were curious about this console...
The CEO of Intellivision, Tommy Tallarico, follows white supremacists on Twitter and calls critics of the Amico 'communists' and 'gaming racists' (lol)
https://twitter.com/ConVito/status/1410340382270017545
Furthermore, the console has dubious specs, a dubious release timeline, expects an insane cut of developer revenue ('about 50%') and has possibly been misleading its investors.
Some OpenType fonts have switchable features like "old-style" figure numerals, alternate glyphs, that sort of thing. I'd love to be able to turn these on at the operating system level so that even if software doesn't recognize such features, the OS will provide the font as requested and the software will never know the difference.
AFAIK, Windows doesn't provide this facility. Does anything else?
warning: email infosec, ProtonMail
heads-up: according to a post from a Swiss law firm on Twitter, at least one person has been charged based on ProtonMail emails that the company shared with US law enforcement.

Commander Data from "Star Trek: The Next Generation" sits at the helm/conn of the Enterprise, but instead of the normal glossy touchscreen interface in black, it's a simplified blue & grey Windows 98 dialog box, titled "Options for Flying Through Space".
The sections are
"Warp speed": a volume slider control that slides between "Slow" and "Fast".
"Starfield density": a spinbox for "Number of stars (10-200)"
The right hand side has a pair of giant "OK" and "Cancel" buttons.
Keanu Reeves. (cw: Keanu Reeves.)
"The worst thing you can say about Keanu is that his English accent from 25 years ago is unconvincing."
"Maybe he's gotten better at it. He could walk down the street and say something and others would respond with, 'Hey, you're like an English Keanu Reeves!'"
"We could make a live action remake of Yellow Submarine but Keanu plays all four of the Beatles."
"Whoa."
Once again, McSweeny's nails it.

hoo boy.. with the ADL and Paypal partnering up to "combat terrorism and extremism", here's a reminder to NEVER EVER SPECIFY a political cause in your donations/ direct aid. If you have to, be vague: diapers, groceries, tire repair, just send i love yous and happy birthdays. don't fucking rat yourself and others out.
and remember, this goes for Venmo as well, because Paypal owns them.
Online clothing retailers, stop crushing the souls of those of us who are not short. (A brief rant in an accusing tone aimed at nobody I know.)
I'm not even talking about a failure of search terms here. I'm talking about browsing the website using the listed categories. As a particularly frustrating example, consider that there's more to tall-size pants than just leg length. The proportions matter. When I browse a category called "tall pants" I should only see pants that are available in specifically designated tall sizes. Period.
Do not give me results for regular-length capri pants. They don't count as "tall" just because "they're supposed to look short". I don't even want capri pants.
Especially do not serve me a page listing only capris and shorts because there are no actual tall pants. Just... for fuck's sake, don't. Finding clothing is hard enough. *defeated sigh*
