that feeling when you're several hours into watching a lengthy speedrun and the runner then references an extremely ablist meme

i don't think this is what they mean when they say a car is a lemon

@Lobst World of Light was good, but I think Subspace Emissary was far better and I'd like to see something like that more than anything

but we don't really play fighting games so i dunno how that would fit in a more conventional one
-F

@bj it might just be nostalgia (crystal was our first video game) but we've always appreciated a lot of the gen 2 designs

Just a page full of Ampharos doodles. Years on, they're still my favorite species of Pokémon, and the news that they're coming back in Gen IX has made me start to obsess over them again. Down on the bottom you can see my attempts at giving them viable hands without losing the "flipper" shape, which I think worked out pretty well. I prefer more anthro designs to wild ones, so I was pleased to see how little a change it ended up being.

@bj Ampharos is a lovely pokemon <3

We've always really appreciated the multi-layered reference of mareep's name, too

bass

@trysdyn Whatever category that falls into ought to require an unsubscribe link too

pretty sure that exception is meant so that they can always send you emails saying stuff like "there will be a service outage on date" or "here's a reminder to pay your bill", not "here buy all this other stuff", which is still spam as far as we're concerned
-F

@trysdyn isn't it illegal not to have an unsubscribe link? or have they found some kind of loophole? Or are they just willing to pay the fine to be able to keep spamming people
-F

@Roxy I can kind of see how they would have gotten that idea but it's 1) very wrong and 2) very distorted
-F

@Kyresti This has been very true for us, to the point that us finding someone easy to get along with is something we consider to be a strong sign they may be autistic
-F

@Roxy I'm curious--how wild are we talking here?

re: stuff about work benefits

@Kyresti i'm pretty sure we got really lucky with this job though

it's a startup, but started by industry veterans, the boss left his previous company because he refused to fire people his superiors were telling him to fire (i.e. he cares about the people working for him), and it kinda perfectly aligns with our interests and skills

this is not at all the norm from what we've heard from others
-F

stuff about work benefits

@Kyresti i'm not sure what's the norm, but we get health/vision/dental insurance, we specifically get 160 hours of paid sick leave per year and 80 hours of other paid time off but that's 4/5 of what others get because we're working 32 hours a week (40 was too much for us and severely negatively impacting our mental health) (plus assorted Big Holidays), and a 401k with employer match or whatever you call it, 100% match for the first 5% of your paycheck that goes to it and 50% match for the second 5%, or something like that? I don't remember the specifics
