@anthracite Would be interesting to see. The thing of that video where no one notices the guy in a bear costume walk past feels related but i don't think it really is (that's about what's expected in a familiar situation, not about what's noticed and remembered in a new situation)

it does make sense though. Give someone a few highly noticeable traits to latch onto and you're better recognised as "the really tall person" or "the one who's always wearing that ridiculous top hat"

@anthracite That was something brought up a few times in a book we read (fantasy book starring a con artist, so i can't say how *realistic* the stuff about disguises is, but)--disguising yourself so you won't be recognised is much easier done by giving people something that sticks out to fixate on. No one will recognise your face if the things they remember about you are "wearing a witch hat" or "has a very bad limp" or something

it's a mixture of sulfuric acid and hydrogen peroxide (much more concentrated--and much more dangerous--H₂O₂ than you can get at the drugstore), which when mixed form an equilibrium with one of the strongest known oxidizers (and also a very strong acid), Caro's acid

it's used occasionally to clean really stubborn gunk off of glassware in chemistry labs because sulfuric acid and concentrated H₂O₂ are both fairly common things to have around in those anyway

Then there's piranha solution but you don't really want to be anywhere near that stuff outside of a controlled environment, and ordering the components online would probably get you on several government watchlists anyway
