Every time we hear something about PETA, we can never figure out whether it's an actual thing or an exaggeration.

Apparently this time they're attacking furries for using real fur in their fursuits but 1) no one does that and 2) how can I be as rich as peta apparently thinks I am

oof, feeling like I had too much caffeine right now for some reason. all jittery and stuff

we haven't had any caffeine today at all and only like some tea yesterday

mention of nsfw things

Is there a word for like, worldbuilding-focused erotica because that's a thing I like reading and a thing I want to write more

it's this level of specificity that really impresses me--it's not hard, if you know much music theory or even if you're just musically inclined, to write music that sounds "anxious" or "frantic" or "happy", but narrowing in on something as specific as this is no small feat

I really do think that clock town day 3 is a masterpiece of capturing a very (and I do mean very) specific emotion in music

Beyond just giving a feeling of unease or franticness it very clearly and in no uncertain terms lays out that specific kind of denial where something is wrong and everyone is simultaneously trying to escape the wrong thing and trying to pretend it doesn't exist and nothing is actually wrong at all, everything's fine here

an interesting thing about Online English:

there are very definitely cases where a line break is more appropriate punctuation than a period

example: right there, between "period" and "example" in this post

allow me to say, just briefly--

skunks are _adorable_.

The function f=exp(-x⁻²) (or really its analytic completion) is really quite fascinating. Its derivatives are zero at x=0. All of them. df/dx = d²f/dx² = d³f/dx³ = dⁿf/dxⁿ = 0 for any integer n and probably nonintegers too, I don't know how fractional calculus works

Hm. Do they make MEMS relays? If not: why not? If so: why?

the way people treat units in science is really disorienting and weird to us and I don't understand why it's so common for people to just... ignore units

I don't even know how to explain what it is that they're doing that bugs us but it's really wrong and hinders our understanding of things a lot

I think we're finally over this cold. that was not pleasant and colds should stop existing

I firmly believe that given enough time and freedom, everyone can learn the basic skills of an artform enough to make something that really says something, and that the deprivation of that time and freedom to everyone and anyone is the greatest loss of every generation

I wonder, if you were to ask the average person who plays games why their favorite game is their favorite, and then ask the same question of the average Gamer™, would there be a noticeable difference in the quality of response
