every video game system has their buttons in the same arrangement but called by different names... and every one has an X button in a different location (sony: bottom, nintendo: top, microsoft: left)

today we learned: british coins (at least some of them) are apparently ferrous and will stick to magnets

saw someone horribly mispronounce baten kaitos (sounded like they thought it was japanese and were trying to apply japanese pronuncation to it) in a youtube video and now I'm mildly annoyed but not enough to want to leave a comment on the video

Is there a big list somewhere of what food items expiration dates actually matter on and which ones they don't? because you don't want to be drinking expired milk but if a loaf of bread is past its expiration date and isn't moldy it's probably fine

every time our tv turns on it says in big letters in one corner "DIGITAL TELEVISION" which just seems weird

So apparently there was a major Aztec holiday where for a week every eight years they would make tamales with no filling and no spices in order to not overwork the maize

this description (which is from wikipedia: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tamale#A) makes me think they had a holiday where they just gave the corn a week off
