imagine a language with mandatory pronouns, where in addition to taking the place of nouns they are also required alongside all nouns (perhaps they evolved from what were previously inflectional affixes)

for an example of what i'm thinking, doing this with english would read like "He the boy read it the book"

are there any natural languages that do this, I wonder? It seems like a reasonable enough thing for a language to do.

apparently there were historical christian sects that held that the old and new testaments (the two halves of the christian bible) were written under the guidance of two different gods, which is an interesting concept and it's unfortunate that this happened at a time when the christian church was very prone to just stamp out anyone with differing opinions on their religion (there has never not been such a time as far as we know though)

also why do they call it a squirrel cage and not like, a rat wheel or something because it sure looks a lot more like one of those exercise wheels you give to rodents than it does anything you'd use to capture a squirrel

why would you want to cage a squirrel anyway

different people have different experiences and sometimes it throws us off a bit when something you consider to be a _very_ basic thing, one of the absolute classics, turns out to be something someone else has never heard of

then again, this is the same video in which I learned that the apparently quite well-known spy vs spy was a video game and not a cartoon (hey, that art style looks very much like it could be a hannah-barbara cartoon or something) (it was the game underneath phantasy star in the stack, and the guy said "oh now this one I know, this was one of my favorites on the amiga")

to be fair he mostly does stuff about 8-bit computers like the C64 and early PC-compatibles, rather than dedicated video game consoles but still

it's _phantasy star_.

not the greatest game ever (people do look back very fondly on it though) but surely the _series_ would be recognisable at least?

unlike apple, of course, nintendo realized the mistake in future portable devices

(if you add Games That Badly Need A Better Localization to the list it gets a lot longer, but I know that Final Fantasy VII and Final Fantasy VIII would definitely be on it)

Terranigma gets an * because it did get an english release, just not a north american one for some reason
