this is also a speedrun of a demo version of an obscure rpg so there's the occasional "I'd explain why this trick works, but we just have no idea"
watching a speedrun where the commentator says that softlocks are more common than dying to random encounters
that's kind of interesting
(the game being run is specifically the demo version of wild arms, which actually contains a beta version of the full game and you can actually get to and beat the final boss if you skip the part where the demo's meant to end with a glitch. it's very unfinished and so crashes and softlocks aren't unexpected)

I always appreciate it, when watching speedruns, when someone says "the only thing that could possibly be a problem here is if this very specific sequence of things happens, and that's really unlikely", and then just watch the look on their face as that very specific sequence of unlikely things unfolds
