like, when you think about it, there's always a middleman between you and stolen music. that pathway that seems so direct still had to be created. there's someone hosting the file you download.

in other words, that's a distributor. it's a *free* distributor that isn't concerned with anyone getting paid.

music piracy is like the closest thing to a utopia that we can experience.

that's completely free access to art and a limitless range of people who have access to your own art

it's only when you worry about everything else ("how can i support myself if i'm not getting paid for art i'm spending time on") when there's an actual problem. i mean, it's a considerable one, but it's one born from our currency-based society. at its core, it's a direct link between art and an audience

trans voice ~

@prehensile I will default to, "you sound good!" Because no matter how you think you sound, it's your voice, and you're beautiful ❤️

re: Fedi Meta

@Felthry same, they're erasing the voices of their victims that way, and they know it.

Re:Fedi Meta

You can put two and two together and figure out that it's shitty people stealing the voices of black folk for their own benefit.

So basically, it's gaslighting. It's circling the wagons, and it's gaslighting. I've seen this happen a lot in my time with AltFurry, and I am seeing it here in response to being called out for anti black attitudes, for driving away a black owned and run instance, and in response to being held to task for enabling/participating in the chasing down of ex-snouts users to harass them.

These are the same folks involved in an instance project that extolled the virtues of inclusion.

Fedi Meta

As a victim of cult brainwashing, the practice of instance admins going on rants about how good they are is an extremely visible red flag to us.

They are using the voices of those who don't know any better to craft a pathology, to create a mass narrative that makes their victims question if what they experienced was real.

UK, police racism, Cardiff, death, covid-19

Gosh! Such swift action by the police. To ensure protest against his killing is stifled, not to ensure those responsible are dealt with, or the underlying systemic issues.

"Police in Wales have fined a woman £500 for organising protests over the death of a young black man hours after he was released from police custody.

The family of Mohamud Hassan allege that he was beaten by South Wales police and had a number of serious injuries at the time of his death. The police have referred the case to the Independent Office for Police Conduct.

Protests took place outside Cardiff Bay police station for three days after Hassan’s death."

when people in your life tell you they would prefer you use a different pronoun for them;
instead of complaining, protesting, and making excuses for why it's too hard for you to do, why not try being like these kids?

When thinking about the "dumbest day in american history" you shouldn't only be concerned about the trump crowd. You should also be alarmed about, how the democratic party is planning on using the riot to pass legislation, that will most likely be targeted against people justifiably demanding actual change, such as BLM protesters and climate activists.

A detailed analysis on this whole mess can be seen in this video: youtube.com/watch?v=FoP9ufM3bj

uspol, neoliberal excuses for fascism

I keep coming back to that line of Biden’s first speech about the teapot insurrection, “This is not America.” And no. Just no.

It isn’t the whole of America. We’ve seen that, over this past summer. But violent white supremacy is absolutely a part of America. And the first step to dealing with a problem is *acknowledging that you have a problem.*

I can’t headdesk enough to describe my feelings about this administration, and its term hasn’t even started yet.

re: More Gab-Fedilab subtooting

@Nezchan It baffles me how anyone can think that risking any involvement with nazis in any level is a good idea. It should be a given that banning and blocking nazis at every turn is good for safety
