@KitRedgrave This is why it's important to fight the conditioning. It's difficult, it's fucking difficult, but it's important to try, try, and keep trying.

"But what about the bad actors?"

These are very persistent thoughts that easily breach our defenses, and it's important to remember that we'd be trying to address the conditions that produce bad actors, not work towards punishing them.

@FreyaManibrandr yeah. it's a cycle of abuse and i believe pretty strongly that it's one of the load-bearing pillars of fascism.

it's part of why we keep ending up recreating the state anywhere we go, because we're molded into a tortured shape to fit it.

Long | Recounting personal trauma

@KitRedgrave A few days ago, because of someone who we thought was a close friend betraying our trust and abandoning us, Valerie ended up spiraling into thoughts of being betrayed and abandoned by close friends, and ended up fracturing. I didn't take it well, and had a meltdown, also in part because I wasn't ready to become the system host so suddenly.

Unfortunately, the result of this is that we're making a decision to be a lot more careful and selective about who Val can give her trust to, because repeated betrayals like that is just not sustainable.

@KitRedgrave This is why we always at least try to reach out to people, even if it may not likely work out.

Honestly, this world is just wrong, we live in a world where our trust is broken right from the crib, betrayal is considered a part of life, and we end up hardening our hearts so that it doesn't happen to us.

Yet I can't help but think we've lost much more of ourselves than we can imagine living like this.

even if you're like i was and still am, deep down someone who is really lonely and wanting to work with people in good faith, you lose touch with that

and it is extremely difficult to really change, especially when people still appear to be just like that! but one starts to see different perspectives and it at the very least becomes clear why they're like that, and it isn't a deliberate malicious choice on their part

it's just tragic all around, tbh

i think i have a good idea to summarize the world i lived in that shaped my default worldview for the worse

imagine a world where most everyone your age rejects you for being different, and everyone older than you is either extremely unreasonable and unthinkingly authoritarian (rules and laws are king even if they're terrible and hypocritical, even if we all know they're bad) or they're the few who at least hear you out, even if they're beholden to people who are also like that and their hands are tied

you sure get some very cynical, jaded and dark ideas about people by default, and you pre-emptively dismiss them

and you kind of become one of them yourself, which is the insidious thing!

re: Pol Meta

Seriously, I've lost count of how many leftists in general end up becoming persecutors because in their fight against fascism, they've neglected to kill the police living in their heads.

Pol Meta

Give no quarter to genocide, that means;

  • Deplatform fascists, racists and bigots.
  • Defund and prosecute the police.
  • Boycott their products made by the above parties.
  • Attack the funding of fascists and fascist enablers.
  • Also boycott any products and services by those who support genocidal states, or fascist movements.
  • Obliterating monuments to colonialism and fascism.
  • Supporting the people targeted by fascism and genocide materially.
  • Protecting the cultural affects, monuments and artifacts of those targeted.
  • Abolishing the carceral state, and all associated entities.
  • Pushing for social services that help the underprivileged, disabled and marginalized survive and thrive.
  • Redirecting funds from the military into said services.
  • Pushing for legal aid and protections for the marginalized.
  • Listening to the voices of the marginalized over the egoist in your head
  • Refusing to double down when called out.
  • Calling out people who make any suggestions towards social darwinism, or otherwise rhetorics supporting eugenics.
  • Calling out nationalism, especially palingenetic ultranationalism.
  • Calling out any rhetoric othering people for their immutable qualities.
  • Calling out any victim-blaming mentality.
  • Killing the police living inside your head.
  • ESPECIALLY killing the police inside your head, and refocusing your ideas of justice around corrective, restorative and, if possible, rehabilitative justice.

Israelpol

Also, anyone using the events of Israel and Palestine as an excuse to be racist to, or otherwise antagonize the people of either parties when they are victims and/or have nothing to do the situation will earn and instant block from me.

Seriously, if you do this, fuck you. Try stepping back and consider yourself in the boots of those suffering, instead of your own pseudo-intellectual masturbation for once.

It should be pointed out that Netanyahu is a shitty politician that can't even do his job as prime minister right, and does not represents the interests of Israeli folks.

It should also be pointed out that Netanyahu is a genocidal psychopath, and should not be praised. And neither should the state be by anyone, nor the people who support the state be supported or even acknowledged.

Y'all being cavalier about the state of China genociding the people of East Turkestan and boycotting Mulan over what one of the actresses said about the Hong Kong protests, while waxing poetic about compartmentalizing the opinions of Hollywood actors out of their roles from their acting roles is really making me side-eye you a lot. JFC

Israelpol

Even if you take 'Israel have the right to defend themselves' as gospel, Hamas's rockets are glorified pipe bombs whereas Israel has a 72.9 billion NIS (22 billion dollars or 15.8 billion pounds) defense budget that goes to buying the best military equipment and munitions that the Western Powers can offer.

It's the equivalent of charging a crowd with Cavalry because someone threw rocks. But on a much larger, even more horrific scale.

Probably a hot take

"Lazy" is just a derogatory term applied to people whose priorities are different from the one calling people lazy.

"Laziness" is a reclamation of one's time and one's life in a system that tells you that you're worth nothing if you're not constantly productive in the way that is beneficial to capitalists.

@Jaded_maple905 @glitter on the other hand, I think it's irresponsible to engage in specific pieces of media if you know that some of them is complicit in genocide.

By consuming that media, it's still giving indirect support to those behind it and what they stand for.

@KitRedgrave I wouldn't even say that I am, considering the meltdown I have a few days ago

in a different, less adversarial light...

sometimes the best thing you can do is to back off. reconsider what you're doing, stop trying to throw yourself at a bad situation. try something else.

random abstract thought...

don't underestimate the tactical retreat.

wars have changed in the favor of those retreating before, because the side advancing overextends themselves or is baited into disadvantage.

Really excellent video by Ok2BeFat about the harms of medicalization, particularly transmedicalism, medicalization of fatness, and gatekeeping
