Black History Month
For #BlackHistoryMonth I'm going to begin by reading all of the 1619 essays/articles.

Finish reading Riot Baby. And then we'll see.
What plans do you have to educate yourself?

re: birdsite, trans, wholesome
@porsupah She's got some serious fashion sense owo
birdsite, trans, wholesome
“So, as a trans woman I’ve gotten a lot of strange comments over the years about my body and appearance.
“And one that always sticks out to me is: ‘You know, wearing a dress doesn’t make you a woman.'”
So, she posted this video. ^_^;
@Novimatrem @owashii@plush.city @artemis@vulpine.club @rantingsteve I am really happy for them, and I am glad that Owashii has found someone who treats him and Artemis well. <3
@glitter I do like the bluish tint on the hair!
@Gumby They're afraid that I am open about my mistakes, they're afraid that I am able to take responsibility for my shit without making excuses, and they're afraid that someone like me would come along and tell them that they're not that much different to the monster that I and my former peers used to be.
@Gumby They can mock me all they want. They and I all know that the reason they react to me in this manner is because they fear me and my ability to see through their crap, thanks to what I had experienced.
@Gumby hugs It's something that a lot of people still need to learn about.
For me, as an empath, it can be a double edged sword. On one hand, it helps me navigate the feelings of other folks around me, and gives me energy whenever I help people, on the other hand, it can cause me to emotionally crash when i am around folks having a hard time. It also makes me vulnerable to having my trust be abused by unscrupulous people.
@Gumby I saw a few posts from you know what instances that unironically said something to the effect of this.
Imagine, without a hint of irony, mocking the idea of taking responsibility, doing better and asking the same of others.
@Gumby I am not sure lacking empathy is the right word, I believe the word you're looking for is compassion. My headmate Iselyn is an apath, but they have found other ways of caring for others around them, to practice compassion.
Those who do cruel things lack compassion, and the more dangerous examples of cruelty are perpetrated by dark empaths, who enjoy the pain they inflict.
I get what you mean though. Political aesthetics does not magically make a person good.
re: selfies (cw: eye contact, gender terrorism)
@vantablack You look good! :o
USpol, long and ranty nonsense
there's a lot to criticize about Biden and his past history of voting indicating his -phobic stances and that history must be transparent and easily available but here's the thing
i dont care if he "likes" trans or queer people. i have never cared about what a white man likes. i care that he's concerned about his position enough to sign protective bills that shelter trans and queer human rights and does it in a timely manner and with language to make it difficult to overthrow. thats it.
americans need to be 100% less concerned with what their politicians 'like' and 300% more concerned with making them feel like the boot is coming for their neck if they don't do their fucking jobs.
"joe biden lied he doesnt like queer people" well fuck is the sky blue today too? is gravity holding me down? damn. world shattering. a cishet rich white man doesnt like queers what a fucking revelation.
so long as we must live in a society dictated by politicians they need to be scared for their careers and their necks and what the people will do to them enough to act right. i don't care if they like us. i care that they're scared of us.
re: identity, fursona talk
@bupy Learning to love you is one of the most important stages of personal growth. I wish you good luck, and if you ever need someone to vent to, i am here for you.
re: some thoughts about childhood and white privilege, gets long
@Leucrotta Yep, and also the fear of the other since a whole lot of """deviant""" attitudes that are associated with PoC folks are also associated with neurodivergent folk, and stigmatized the same way.
And yes, Boomers are indoctrinated by this shit, the typical mantra of, "Work hard, don't rock the boat, and you can do anything you want!" Assuming that the same benefits that are afforded to a typical white male in the 60's apply to PoC, Autistic, Trans and/or Disabled people.
