one last thing about the current meta, especially if you are confused or new 

I have come to my conclusions from listening and watching, and some of them have hurt. there are people I... enjoyed interacting with, who I don't enjoy interacting with any more, having read what they write, having seen their behavior.

just... pay attention. read what's being written, and notice especially who is saying what, and *who they're saying it to*. notice who they are *not* replying to. notice *how* they respond to different people, with different avatars, backgrounds, and bios. listen to the justifications, all of them. listen to the reasons for actions taken, and actions not taken.

take notes for your own records, if it'll help you keep track. I haven't. my memory isn't perfect, and it doesn't help that I have a particularly bad memory for names/handles. but I remember patterns of behavior. I have seen these patterns play out multiple times, with some of the same people, over and over.

if you come to a different conclusion than I have, or if you can't come to a conclusion at all... that's all right. just remember, the next time it comes around--and *it will*. remember what you saw this time, the next time it plays out.

It's pretty funny how the shithawks pop up like shit-mushrooms to yammer on about how defedding or calling out toxic communities is somehow racist when the entire reason they got defedded is because of racist anti-blackness, and general harassment from those instances that had been unaddressed for a very long time.

Yes, the anti-blackness is everywhere on the Fedi, that doesn't mean that we can't take community self-defense measures to address some of it. And no, the perps being PoC doesn't magically make the racism go away.

You wanna know what's REALLY racist? White-washing the folks hurt by those toxic instances, and erasing the ethnic identity and struggles of the PoC negatively affected by the abuse.

demanding receipts of behavior from the victims of harassment is tricky business. most of us have long removed ourselves from the harmful party, so that leaves two options when presented with the demand:

1) show old receipts, could go to establishing a pattern, but more often than not is dismissed as old news and "people are allowed to change"
2) post new receipts and brace for the blowback of block evading or stalking, regardless of how the receipts came into our possession, and get dismissed as an aggressor

y'all get it? receipts are useful but not the magic bullet you'd like to think it is. it can and often is turned right back around against us.

In a way, the reason I am so cavalier about calling him out is because he reminds me so much of myself back when I used to be a Gamergate shithead, doing the same beating my hispanic identity into people's faces thing as a pretext to being aggressively toxic.
