Praxis against neofascism

Quite honestly, if you're talking to a nazi or a fascist, punch them, or verbally beat them down until the fascist noises stop.

The Daryl Davis method only worked back then when all of these bedsheet-wearing scumbags were ballsy enough to be out in the open about their racism. Nowadays, they're smart enough to hide their power levels behind formalities and civilities, and will play every dirty trick to socially punish you for even trying to size them up.

Give them no quarter.

This though.

"Let's begin with the basics: violence is an inherent part of policing. The police represent the most direct means by which the state imposes its will on the citizenry. They are armed, trained, and authorized to use force."

An actual protest at YouTube Headquarters would have been more meaningful. At least that might have made the news.

As is there's no coordination here. No organizing. There's no site for information, no nothing beyond "don't go on Youtube these days". It's just impromptu.

A picket line is a thing you physically have to cross. A picket is something that people put up, and plan. There are signs, there's information.

This is a haphazard mess against a monopoly, and when it fails people are going to just go "aww shucks".

And I'm seeing a lot of people say that "you're a scab if you watch YouTube", but YouTube has become a ubiquitous part of our lives at this point, especially if we're clicking on links on Twitter, and this protest sprang up practically overnight with no warning.

#YouTubeIsOverParty, if the tag even is related to the boycott, is poorly thought out and poorly planned. It's trending now a 23.7K tweets.
It should have been trending a month ago.

I found out because the tail end of a video basically said "don't go on YouTube yesterday".

So Jack wants to develop a federated status protocol and pivot Twitter into being some kind of aggregation platform for his vision of the fediverse.

This fills me with dread TBH because this is how megacorps destroy open alternatives to their centralized crap. They claim they want to build a better version "for the people", add support for the open standard, grab a bunch of users/content, then re-centralize themselves.

XMPP almost saw actual usable adoption when Google did it, then they closed the gates.

Made a flute noise out of a random sample, turned it into the theme of a spooooky ghost ship in a Humongous Entertainment Game

twitter's decentralized-social-media thingy

So, apparently Jack Dorsey wants to make a decentralized The Algorithm, so people can choose which black box attempts to monetize their time by trapping them in a vortex of social media viral content: twitter.com/jack/status/120476

This will hopefully provide some context to the decentralized-#Twitter jokes which may be taking over your timeline.

A wonderful piece from @Critter of us being snuggly ❤️❤️❤️❤️

Ableism, hot take

If your attitude is "disabled folk are going to be fucked when the revolution comes, deal with it", congratulations, you've edged towards eugenics. :thonking:

Taking advantage of the youtube walkout to push me into digging through the Free Music Archive some more: freemusicarchive.org/static

The database search features are disabled right now, which is a little disappointing as someone who used those to try to find CC-BY and public domain music for streaming and YouTube, but there's still a lot of music to stumble over. Currently listening to Derek Clegg's "Solar": derekclegg.bandcamp.com/album/

blockchain re: twitter's decentralized-social-media thingy

Oh, because I left it out of my tl;dr, there's a bit in the middle of the thread where he goes:

> Blockchain points to a series of decentralized solutions for open and durable hosting, governance, and even monetization.

...which, like ... I'm just gonna leave here, and not touch.

tbh im starting to think sites/social media removing nsfw are intentionally going against sex workers and endorcing supremacist/elitist groups/factions on another level when they already don't monitor shit

like they really gonna act like you get all the news or whatever when yr literally taking whole portions of cultures/society out that is nsfw. that's not reporting that's not being accurate to humanity/our cultures or how different people are/what they experience/do
