Having a small urge to game is a sign of recovery. An important one. It means I have at least a partial spoon left after work.

Spoons after work are something I simply didn't have for quite some time, especially with the rest of everything going on in the world.

And my blood pressure is recovering. I was under such long-term stress I ran out of adrenaline and was getting dizzy and needing to lie down by the time I finally took vacation.

I'm feeling better there, too.

It's good to just be me.

Scammer warning, fediblock

ace @ chitter .xyz is back at it again. Do not donate to any requests for fundraising to the kofi account acestarr or the paypal account foxyart.

She got permabanned from twitter for transphobic, antisemitic, and ableist tantrums as well as copious suicide baiting, and now she's come to mastodon to try to grift from people here as well. She's a notorious scammer and a megathread of eveidence aginst her from various sources can be found at twitter.com/corust_/status/135

I've tried presenting the evidence to chitter administration in the past but was written off because they don't want to deal with it, and in the process are putting their instance and many others at risk as she has been ousted from countless communities, my own discord server as well, for violently toxic behavior and extremely abusive and gaslighting fits whenever she doesn't get her way.

She claims she acknowledges she was toxic "in the past" but she was calling people "jewish rats" and throwing around the r-slur and lying about using money people gave her for food to get a new ipad a matter of weeks ago, and she continues to behave exactly the same way with no intention of changing.

Block her, warn others about her, and stay safe. Do not let this abuser prey on the generosity of people on the masto and bury other crowdfunding requests from people who actually, genuinely need it.

re: UK, trans, GICs, general salt

@FreyaManibrandr The Tories have long been an awful lot, but the last few years have seen them completely radicalised, seeing a "populist" strategy is indeed successful, coupled with ejecting more moderate sorts like Bercow. They now feel emboldened to proceed with /any/ policy they wish, including installing the former Daily Mail editor as chief of the press regulator, and likewise loyal Tories at the top of the BBC.

There is some hope, at least, in the form of the "trial" GICs: TransPlus, CMAGIC, and Indigo, but they're all limited in intake, so not relevant to most trans people. That said, they do indeed appear to *listen* to people, and work with them to achieve their goals, rather than the abominable adversarial system most are currently stuck with. Not informed consent, but, not far off GenderGP either.

The thing now is to try to get this cooperative model rolled out further, before the end of the three year period these new ones are currently active for. I imagine it'll be simpler to build anew as with those, than reform CHX et al - Barrett, Seal, et al won't ever change.

Ultimately, though, what we really need (in addition) is GPs being given guidance that yes, HRT is fine for all patients, not just cis, and there's nothing weird involved. (The GICs' own GP guidance is only a few pages, stating what many of us already know - the various forms of delivery, what to test and how often, and so on)

Anyways, me, Valerie and Julayla at @FreyaManibrandr have finished a 9 minute long Orchestral Trap Hybrid Epic beat, and I would like you all to hear it.

selfie, ec

Trying on some looks, not too sure. I shaved because my beard looks patchy, I wish it was denser and more consistent.

I really need to buy an air dryer and stuff. Also I hope I can get part of my hair dyed silver in a more permanent way soon-ish too because when my hair is longer like that the thing I got doesn’t really do the trick

Nero Burning ROM was such a great software name

Dimension Pro kind of is unique in that it's one of the first wavetable synths that is flexible in how is uses its synthesis engine. It can load wavetables, samples, and waveguide impulses.

Now I am kind of wishing I paid more attention to synths like PSYN II and Pentagon, since they're very powerful workhorses.

The one problem? They're DXi instruments, which is very unique to Cakewalk/Sonar, and I have a feeling it's only a matter of time before DXi support is axed,

Perhaps if I was just starting out, I might be more interested in Serum. However, I started out wanting to convert my MIDIs into metal arrangements. (That was before Shreddage was even a thing, haha.) So I ended up just ignoring all of the synths that came with Sonar X1 Producer, even though, retrospectively, they're awesome.

The only synth I really touched was Dimension Pro, and that's only because I bought the DSF World Instrument soundpack with it.

Just so you know, I also have a similar issue with Surge VST, though it gets a free pass because it's free, open source, and it has thousands of free user presets.

Plus it has a unique character in how it uses FM and effects signal routing, and how they can all be modulated via LFOs and macro controls.

At the end of the day, the only real reason to use Serum is the opportunity to spend even more money on the presets that everyone and their dogs have made for the thing.

And honestly? While that is fine and all, if you're purchasing Serum, you're basically buying a sound design tool, and at some point, having 1000s of presets becomes less valuable the better you get at using a synth to design sounds.

Also, why hasn't anyone thought of making a variable-latency feedback DSP synth? I always felt it would be pretty interesting to include a feedback loop with variable serial/parallel effects chains that not only fad into the signal pre-DSP, but also with the feedback signal being used to modulate parameters of the DSP effects, and also the OSC, LFO and Filter parameters.
