re: ~
Being able to actually build connections again here and in group chats, without worrying about the performative hellscape Twitter and other larger platforms have become, has made such a big difference over the past year or so.
I guess it's also important to point, many other people were in this same situation, and that I'm thankful they escaped as well.

I'm not sure I've mentioned this, but by this point, Masto has likely saved my life.
During the Falling Out, Twitter became one of the few social ties left to me in ~2015/2016. Despite pitching its client, I do still regularly read a few accounts from there. And the information environment has gotten... really bad. Had I not had an alternative to that ecosystem, I'm not sure if I would have emotionally recovered.
I don't know how to fully express my gratitude that this community exists.
deltrarune + ut ending spoilers
Also, being able to hug him in the tutorial battle is the best thing.
in this house we love and cherish Fluffy Boys #deltarune
ralsei is........ good boy... soft and nice boy.... he tries his best!
re: deltarune (speculation based on ending ), undertale spoilers
I kind of hope it doesn't go wibbley-wobbley-timey-wimey-ball like Homestuck did, because I think that would be required to ignore certain elements that could not exist if the game was a prequel (ie, flowers for the human souls).
But I'm very interested in whether Kris was possessed by, or is, Chara.
re: deltarune (ending(s), request to be spoiled), hard violence
@Dex @Thaminga Adding here that I played full pacifist and still got the Chara ending. I never ran genocide in the first game, either.
It makes sense that we'd get that for a Halloween-themed ending, because Chara is also a shoutout to the old Earthbound Halloween hack. I would not put it past Toby to have other endings in there that are time- or secret-locked, so maybe also give the 24 hours he mentioned.
@JarylGaren@snouts.online Yeah, I picked it up after watching the comparison, because that’s exactly the game I wanted.
Glitchless tournament runs of the GC version also clock in at an hour and a half (or so) in Hidden Mansion, so it’s the kind of game I can see myself playing through a few times just for fun without it taking too much time.
@JarylGaren@snouts.online Digital Foundry did a side by side comparison video that’s very informative: https://youtu.be/VFk7x9azQa0
The visuals were completely revamped, and are for the most part higher saturation. They also work around the transparency and lighting processors that the GameCube has that the 3DS doesn’t, as well as a lack of normal mapping on 3DS hardware. The textures, however, seem to have been completely redone and are generally higher resolution and less muddy than the GC.

@JulieSqveakaroo No easy answer, but part of the puzzle is removing property that one has from their value to and impact on society. Which remains unsolved, but has many good partial answers.
Someone recently stated that corruption is “property showing its teeth”, and I can’t think of a more apt summary.

@frameacloud I believe folks I know that play Magic: The Gathering have often quipped that while this planet settled on Azorius (law mages, law-is-magic), they’d prefer if it were Simic (transformation is experimental data, very accessible, but with many many ethics issues).
I know this isn’t the magic system you were thinking of, but I think about that often.

@glip I continue to think “social media [and the era of its popularity] is the uncanny valley of communication” is a good take from folks over on birdsite.
I don’t think human beings were set up for such ephemeral connections, and the way it emphasizes performative behavior makes it really hard to build meaningful connections. Sites set up with smaller communities that connect to each other modeled things better, and... I guess we’re seeing those return?
