My impression so far of the latest Warframe update
@KitsuneAlicia@octodon.social A motion I now use is substituting bullet jump for quick melee strike (which I’d been using previously for equipment-locked sorties). It’s taken some getting used to, but it prevents zoom from being taken away from snipers or inadvertently homing ground slamming.
It’s especially weird right now with PC on melee 3.0 and console 2.0, since I keep forgetting they also changed how the next weapon key and blocking work.
@mawr ... I may need to scribble on the rules sheet of my copy of Rampage/Terror in Meeple City now, for the next time folks play.
travel & infosec
@leafnoodle Yeah, for one-off, I wouldn’t worry about it too much.
travel & infosec
@leafnoodle As already mentioned in thread, only likely happen due to profiling, unlikely at US-CA border, but it helps with peace of mind.
travel & infosec
@leafnoodle I personally carry a burner phone when traveling through international checkpoints. Here’s what I recommend: https://www.oukitelcentral.com/phone/oukitel-k10000-pro/
Load it up with just the services you intend to use when traveling, set short cache policies, wipe and expire access as needed.

I especially like how I used “in case of trouble” in some old service notes, because the whole Bastion soundtrack is amazing: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=-jU9EFTMhbY
trauma (~...+?)
@Soreth If it’s any consolation, the “we talked it out and they listened/mutual understanding was reached” dream seems to be... not uncommon? I’ve had it for different people and different events.
It seems to be one of the ways that trauma heals.
@mawr ... at what run-length of "anananananana" does it become Batman?
Question for Seattle/Portland area Folks (cw: alcohol) (plz boost!)
Hey frens!
Do you know of any local breweries that are union shops?
I keep running into examples of Breweries that treat their employees like shit because they can get away with it. Here's a job posting from Rogue as an example.

I want to find union brewers 'cause union brewed beer tastes like solidarity, and solidarity is easily one of the world's finest flavors. ![]()
digital privacy, birdsite link
This is a really neat way to teach folks how privacy works in the digital age: https://twitter.com/Klonick/status/1102970732890316801
tl;dr: using only Google, visit a public place and see just how many folks you can de-anonymize, as a lesson in how to protect oneself (and in this case, legal clients) from the same process.
Today I found out the official Mario Paint strategy guide is free on archive.org, and worth a look if you want to see how they filled 120 pages with potential applications for a piece of SNES creative software for kids in 1993

thread: meta, working in evil industries, a strategic perspective (mention of cops, worker abuse, death)
@ghost_bird @SuzanEraslan@anticapitalist.party (The intersection I’m familiar with: leftist folks that migrated to tech culture in the 80s and 90s, only to watch their small communities get razed by media culture and marketing coalitions that gave rise to Facebook, et al.
I fit that description, and I know several other folks that do, too.
Pardon the brief thread hijack.)
thread: meta, working in evil industries, a strategic perspective (mention of cops, worker abuse, death)
@ghost_bird @SuzanEraslan@anticapitalist.party (From my looking glass inside infosec communities over the past 10 years, there are definitely cliques of practitioners that have no idea how their choices impact real people and protection rackets. However, there’s also sustained countercultures of activists that are tech-literate, and those might be folks worth talking to?)
infosec, in re, last boost
@deltaphor Not too jaded, no. Since once it hits server logs, archive.org, or someone else’s scraper, it can be retained indefinitely.
I wonder if it’s worth sharing some of the older stuff about how trust makes online interactions work, both positively and negatively? A lot of newer folks have come online since those were circulated.
