So the most English genre of story is the murder mystery where there’s a whole batch of usually well off British relatively suspects in the same place, often a manor somewhere in pristine countryside. And; hobbits are relatively well off Brits who tend to have big parties in the middle of beautiful rural quasi England, but they frequently are a lot less fond of each other than they act. Therefore, Tolkien fanfic we need is a hobbit locked room murder.

The most surprising thing about the Falls I *didn’t* photograph; there’s a bridge where the road crosses the river a fairly short distance before the Falls and it’s steadily moving and very calm despite what lies ahead! (Off topic, I think that trail made my legs sore.)

Here’s a selfie (so eye contact), my glasses should give you an idea just how much spray the falls kick up!

On a whim I went to Snoqualmie Falls, which I’d heard about- but I was honestly in town to look at their railway museum! Two trails run down to the river from the big dramatic (crowded!) outlook, and one’s fairly tucked away so I walked down then up the “use this if you’re sure you’re in good health” warning trail. Down at the bottom, you really *could* take a kayak out!

This was such a cool photo of a train from the station I wanted to share it right away.

It’s this recursive deal where every trumped up right wing assmash has to have A BIG FLAG to let you know how AMERICAN!!!1! they are, thus associating the flag with the most classist racist politics out there and ensuring anyone left of Hermann Göring dislikes the thing, which means right wingers can go YOU DON’T LIKE OUR FLAAAAG.

Maybe it’s a conspiracy by flag manufacturers to sell bigger and bigger flags, until the average F150 has one the size of car dealerships’, idk…

uspol opinion, that "trial"

I feel like "Black lives matter" is important as a community spirited thing which reaches way beyond police brutality into medical malfeasance, hiring decisions, housing, etc.

BUT the most completely selfish take I could possibly have is that the unlimited freedom police and other white supremacists have to harm African-Americans is a warning to those of us who aren't Black; that curtailing police power protects all of us, since anyone who isn't Black quickly becomes fair game once we step out of line, namely - if we're protesting. (Right wing protests don't count, as societal double standards always keep them both protected and audible.)

I feel like the whole Rittenhouse crime and trial could be interpreted as (okay, let's be blunt here, I think it IS) one more heavy handed statement from the establishment that protesting isn't safe, that they will gladly harm any and all of us as they please, that consequences are for left wingers and Black folks. Doesn't matter the subject of the protest - eviction, war, gentrification. We're being told that it's just fine and good with the authorities that not just the police but random dudes considered the right side can click the safety off and cut loose.

propose that, given the right wing idealization of Roman civilization and the way it's free of any potential copyright stuff, the Republican party adopt Julius Fucik's "Entry of the Gladiators" as a way to introduce their candidates etc

Weird luck meant I only did 9 1/4 hours today but ohhh man some of that was very not fun. Younger me would be a self hating wreck right now, and I’m not so that’s a huge improvement. Gonna get some house stuff and make breakfast food, maybe crack a tube.

Here’s the wildlife refuge we tried - wound up being a short walk, but the area’s got these huge old oaks, which is an ecotype that’s just not around Seattle. Oak pics;

Okay my mood is now not just in the toilet but flushed and headed for a sewage processing plant in Renton so here are some trees and stuff from last weekend’s hike.

Between being Queer AF and old AF I'm theoretically a Queer Elder. I don't *feel* like whatever that's supposed to feel like.

Like maybe I should get brunch with younger people regularly, where I dispense compassionate wisdom (as opposed to embittered burn out) over mimosas or something, is that how it works?

today, a couple of player characters with lycanthropy - a druid and a fighter (with severed vampire heads on their shield, if that helps decide whether you look or not).

Food photo; some of the finished chicken and (globe) artichokes

ah yes at about 1:59 through "The Cookie Factory" Elfman makes use of his "Cry Copiously" leitmotif

veteran’s day, cranky opinion

Gotta admit it’s very human and specifically very American to take the sheer horror people felt at WWI, their initial “we need to commemorate this, let’s never let this happen again,” and somehow give it the implication of even more SUPPORT OUR TROOPS (ie whatever we’re sending people out to this time) YOU SHOULD ENLIST.

Goin’ to the BDSM club, gonna have their deep fried vegetables with Spanko breading.
