Years ago I lived a long walk from a bookstore and coffee shop, on one of those walks there’s an Indian dude about my Dad’s age, sitting on the curb next to his bike. One leg’s twisted and at an odd angle, so I assume he’s had a crappy fall and rush over to offer help. He reassures me that he’s just resting during his ride, the leg looks banged up thanks to polio as a kid. You know, that thing vaccinations helped eradicate, such that he was the first survivor I’d ever met.

Character concept; human earnestly claims that he’s a “dire halfling” and keeps acting halfling ish, big laughs right? As campaign progresses we find out that they’re from an incredibly abusive home and the halfling family next farm over were the only positive adults in their childhood.
