You sure do know how to make an impression, sadly not a positive one. This is only driving my dislike of fielding phone calls deeper and deeper.

It’s odd how we’re all time travelers here, just in only one direction.

I was looking at one of my Squadron aircraft books and it’s very 70s in a way I can’t specifically describe? (Maybe; standard view of WWII, described b/w photos with color plate section, mass produced - no Internet so invaluable to general interest audience like someone making slightly more skilled models, not an in depth enthusiast’s book.)

proud warrior badasses in history

I theorize that pretty much every people in history has this PROUD WARRIOR BADASS act to cover for how everyone basically wants olives/lamb kebabs/dumpling soup, sing alongs with their friends, smokes, and probably Gay sex given just how hard most cultures stomp down on Gay sex.

I'm thinking about this thanks to The Hu being serious badasses. What little I understand about Mongolian culture suggests that Mongols were especially fearsome exactly *because* there was never a dichotomy between being vicious horse-archers and guys with round faces who liked singing, smoking and dumpling soup.

today, four hill dwarves. I was vaguely thinking that surface-dwelling dwarves would be poorer, so less metal armor, but more willing to adopt new technology.

I have here a sneaker that's battered and worn
it's full of holes and the laces are torn
but I wouldn't trade it for a big stack of porn!
I love it because it's trash! Ev'rybody together now!
OH I LOVE TRASH!

I’m really worried about cons and festivals closing down, in the future. I’ve seen how completely soulless the Bay Area became outside of Folsom, FurCon, PantheaCon (RIP). I definitely don’t want to see Seattle go the same direction. Similar to worrying about smaller restaurants.

uspol opinion - -, Holocaust & AIDS mention

I remember as a kid hitting, okay what would you do if it happened here which is silly because 1) not the same scale but antisemitism is constant and 2) we WERE going through AIDS which Republicans were delighted to have killing Gays for them. During Bush II I realized that most everyone would be trying to just survive and now thanks to BLM and Biden I know that if it happened here the Dems would show opposition by singing Hava Nagila and that’s it.

The children’s leukemia foundation attempt to hit me up for money left me extremely cold and I think I will throw money at NAACP again because this makes me want to do *something* other than be guilt tripped.

Purple Rain is honestly a brilliant album. For any number of reasons I completely missed that in the 80s.

damnit, I liked Further Confusion. FC used to be my local con, the convention I staffed for a few years there. The relief that this year I won't really be missing what the con's really like, is now matched by concern for the con's future.

aw man there's no tsugaru shamisen version of Journey of the Sorcerer

but you *can* play it on a ukelele, and I'm thinking again about how I'd like to learn ukelele someday, since my Gramma played.

Maybe if I somehow survive past this bullshit, I'll get a pasta maker and make pasta at home.

Made basically "fleet style spaghetti" from "Beyond Borscht," added wine, used the remaining shallots and parsley. If I wind up inheriting my parents' place maybe I can grow parsley and cilantro in the kitchen greenhouse window.

thought; metal is the opposite of punk and classical, if you're trying to find a punk or classical track to listen to you want to find the shortest version because it'll be the fastest tempo, whereas if a metal track is longer that means it's probably got a better instrumental.

Eternal Champion, music for people who only play character classes with d12 or d10 hit dice

Led Zeppelin's "Kashmir" only it's by Rage Against the Machine

this thought brought to you by noticing that you can rap "Wake Up" to "Kashmir"

and we say we love all of it
and we say we're in love with everything
and we lie, love to lie.

Currently waiting on more purchase orders and noticing how many PNSO dinosaurs have names which you can use in place of “Rudolf the Red Nosed Reindeer.”

“Isaac the Sauropelta had a very armored tail/and if you got hit with it, it would make you scream and flail/all the other thyreopherans always let him take his turn/they were too busy grazing on all the other yummy ferns”

I wish I knew what to do with all the damn rage. The Buddha was right, dropping the hot coal is best if you can’t throw it, but I’d still like to throw the coal sometimes and he’s vague about how to drop the coal AND feel okay about it.
