listening to the soundtrack to The Hunt for Red October, reading Wikipedia's article about the Battle of Copenhagen. Seriously, I am not sure what's up with me and ships/naval warfare/etc.

some conversations this weekend were deffo nascent shitposts;

"We have eucalyptus based spray. It's safer than Deet."
"I'll try it. I mean it'll attract the koalas, but they're koalas, they were always gonna be aggressive."

damnit I did something awesome with my weekend and now my weekend's over and now I'm sad. It's entirely possible that getting fired means I can process being sad without being completely crushed by the day job.

Out in the middle of nowhere camping, and getting awesome photos to share soon.

Literally the only downside is; hot! Hot hot hot hot hot! When I get back to Seattle I plan to order a suproventi caramel Frappuccino and submerge my entire head in it.

Going with the idea it’s better to haul too much than not have when wanted, I made spicy beans, cucumber tomato salad, and roast yams with za’atar for this camping trip with a few other folks this weekend (plans predated getting fired).

Horus is trending and somewhere out there on Twitter are some very confused Egyptologists/Kemetic pagans.

"Okay, so Horus is associated with chaos, not falcons. And he's NOT in charge of the Marines who have an Egyptian theme?"
"Right."
"So if Horus is the villain, who's the hero?"
"A vaguely Roman Emperor."

this is the first time I've listened to Gustav Holst's First Suite for Military Band and it's very This Precious Stone Set in the Silver Sea

Shichiroji, Katayama Gorobei, Honda Heihachi, Katsushiro, Kikuchiyo, Ryuzo, Shimada Kambei.

There. I have named all seven samurai from memory (I don't think all of them get family names). This is tangential to being unable to name any of the magnificent seven.

exclaiming BEEF. IT'S WHAT'S FOR DINNER at particularly beefy parts of Elmer Bernstein soundtracks.

uh, "The Great Escape" in this case.

A whole work party of ghostly cowboys! Drinking their ghost coffee and spooning ectoplasmic beans into their eternally hungry maws. Yippie ai yay, yippie ai yo, ghost rahders in th’ skah.

After a 9+ hour workday I decided going Outdoor Stuff Shopping as originally planned would be a great idea. It probably wasn’t though I now have most of the camping gear I’d like. I’m now at Starbucks soaking up their AC, vaguely reading more Pathfinder splatbook and trying to step back from anger.

Mh stuff, personal history

I mention this because that’s a thing pressing my buttons fairly regularly at this job, with the nigh constant “oh hey you don’t get to go home there’s EVEN MORE IMPORTANT CRAP you need to do”

He did try to improve my math skills this way off and on for years but a lot of memory is gone into the gray depression that was most of high school. Never music. I still can’t really read sheet music and I still hate math, I still feel it’s something for smart people. And then of course there was all the detention in high school especially, having to be trapped in school more as punishment. So I have baggage about “hey thought you were heading home THINK AGAIN!”

When I was in 3rd grade or so, my Dad got promoted, so he was around more. This meant he’d teach me math after school to improve my grades. In other words after an entire day of sitting in place trying to do okay at stuff I didn’t like, I had to sit in place trying to do okay at stuff I didn’t like. If I were obviously bored or doing badly he’d snap at me. He never hit; he called me stupid a lot and if I looked upset he’d yell at me to stop feeling sorry for myself.

Just one today, marine vs. genestealer aboard a space hulk. SKREEEEE sprakkkt kkkkttt!

Robert Smith is making me want to spend an overcast autumn day laughing with a pretty girl while hanging out on a bridge and sharing a cigarette like it’s a wonderful secret of the universe. Instead it’s like 100 and won’t be overcast for weeks, I quit smoking in 2018, and I’m at the day job.

… this was funnier when I’d listened to only the first two tracks of Disintegration but now after fielding a batch of calls I’m like up to five tracks into the album.

There's this older lady I know from online, who's a game designer, does YouTube channel videos about TTRPGs. Invariably she starts these off by drinking the most ridiculously effete fruity cocktails she can possibly mix, and this is hilarious to me somehow.
