Imho most but not all our transport issues could be solved with better bus and train systems, not EVs, not bikes, which opens up a ton of issues; there are places where having little separate vehicles does work better, stressing biking over busses is this nasty urban classism with bits of racism, inefficient public transit means folks will swap from bussing if possible and the result is an option never supported enough. So it’s this tangled mess with no end in sight.

The late great Angus McBride did paintings for now OOP Concord Publications books - all topics like barbarians, Celts, ancient warfare, etc. Essentially gorgeous pictures with text most appropriate for an interested preteen, these would have been perfect for 8-10 year old me.

But! Pages with text have b/w cropped versions of the McBride paintings so you can see how he organized values which pushes these books from really nice, to true treasures.

I’m glad I have this job now that I know people *treating* me like I’m fucking stupid does not in fact *mean* I’m fucking stupid. That bumps “self worth fuxx0red for months” to merely “daily discomfort and wanting to quit,” so I wish my coworker would finally give it a rest.
