gotta remember that I was pretty thoroughly trained that I was physically ugly, intellectually weak, and morally bad, as well as that nothing good happens next. Such that without specifics setting me off, this is still a constant uncomfy stew, a subjective filter and not a fun or helpful one. And it's therefore useful to consciously remember that things probably aren't as bleak as all that.

oh yeah, the good parts of "Don't Fear the Reaper"

you know the part that goes

*air guitar, headbangs*

DWEEEEEEdledee DEEE WHHAAAA waaa waaaagh waaagh
DOOO DOO DOO DOOO DOO dwaaaAAAAAA!
dum da da dum da dum da OOOOOO!

valentine is done
here but now they're gone
with a purposeful grimace and a terrible sound
he pulls the spitting high tension wires down
(go go godzilla)
helpless people on subway trains
(go go godzilla)
as he wades through buildings
(go go godzilla)
to the center of town

You know what I'd really like as Queer movies (caveat again, maybe this is out there)? Purely representational; characters are some flavor of Queer but their stories have nothing that especially NEEDS them to be Queer; they're simply Queer because people ARE sometimes.

See also "stories should have Blacks, Asians, and women, not because they're filling stereotypical comic, martial artist, or strong women roles, but because people ARE." Hell, maybe even someday there'll be stories where a character's Jewish because it happens sometimes.

why are there so many songs about rainbows
and what's on the other side?
rainbows are visions, but only illusions
and rainbows have nothing to hide
so we've been told and some choose to believe it
I know they're wrong, wait and see
someday we'll find it, the rainbow connection.
the lovers, the dreamers, and me.

who said that every wish would be heard and answered
when wished on the morning star?
somebody thought of that and someone believed it
look where it's got us so far.
what's so amazing that keeps us stargazing
and what do we think we might see?
someday we'll find it, the rainbow connection.
the lovers, the dreamers, and me.

All of us under its spell
we know that it's probably magic

have you been half asleep
and have you heard voices?
I've heard them calling my name.
Is this the sweet song that calls the young sailors
the voice might be one and the same.
I've heard it too many times to ignore it, it's something that I'm s'posed to be
someday we'll find it, the rainbow connection.
the lovers, the dreamers, and me.

it's so weird having "People are Strange" with some place which ISN'T Santa Cruz

have you ever considered the supreme irony that out of all the songs on The Black Album, "Of Wolf and Man" where it'd be appropriate, contains nearly *no* singing "OWHOAAAAAAAA" "AWOOOOOOO" or whatever? There's like two fairly demure "WHOAAAH"s in there.

you know what I kinda wish there was as part of Pride (and it might exist and I'm out of the loop)?

Some sort of LBGTIA+ art market, not necessary Queer themed MATERIAL, but Queer artists. I think any opportunity for people to table would be awesome and like 98% of trans dudes I know are artists.

*freddy mercury voice*

NOW I'M IMMORTAL
I HAVE INSIDE ME MSG

Preppers? Oh! You mean those guys with the popped collars on izod shirts, who also have an extensive firearms collection!

I probably should make Pride themed art, but maybe I could get away with saying all the orcs I draw are Queer (I mean, they're orcs, it's a pretty safe statement).

So I sold three boxes of books and CDs (I just wasn't watching these movies), cooked breakfast (to use up leeks, bacon and a potato), made radish salad made beans and sausage simmering for later this week, filed for UI for last week. I am so DONE being a responsible adult for a while.

Getting thrown out of Half Price Books for screaming AAAAAA! GEORGE! and running around the aisles while waiting for them to price out my books. Look, THEY decided to put “I Want to Hold Your Hand” on speakers.

AAAAAAAAA

CAPTAINE BELGIUM! Powered by the essence of everything Belgian, he’s far more whimsical than the rest of the Marvel comic and shows up in a contrasting ligne claire style!

KNKX announcer: “and then Tom Waits, he’s gonna sing for you.”

For me personally? Hey thanks, Tom.

“Frank settled down in the valley
And all the doughnuts have names that sound like prostitutes,
He has a router and a table saw
And you won’t believe what Mrs Stitches saw
Uhhhüüüüüüh.”

… turned out to be from Nighthawks at the Diner, so a pre-Kathleen album I don’t own. I think what I like about Waits is weirdly the same “feel” for language use as I like about Henry Rollins actually.

"what is the yelling song in Thor Ragnarok"

oh yeah, Led Zeppelin's "The Yelling Song"!

* promptly forgets the lyrics and instead just bellows OTVAR ZA RUSS FENRIS HJOLDA *
