I hate how this whole thing attempts to grind down morale, block alternative sources of information, and keep you constantly exhausted. I hate how a major party and the president it has pushed on us do classic narcissist, domestic abuser shit, and it has the predictable effect on our collective psych health. Even if somehow they lose, they’ve fucked all of our lives by how much?

So. Danheim’s “Herja” is dark and thematic and would be an awesome album to play during D&D.

(Hot take; I suspect what early medieval Scandinavian music actually sounded like tended to be major key and kinda brainless. Everything about these people suggests trying to enjoy long summers and keep a grip on it in long winters.)

Aggressive canvassing manages to make me feel pressured and guilty and hits all the “I hope to pull a quick one on you” buttons. FFS don’t do it. You could be petitioning to get protections for red wolves or to get Sessions to resign or something like that and I’d still be like, fuck you, step off, leave me alone.

Gender is just fuckin’ wild, man. Like the thing that really broke the southern definitions of manhood for me was working in a bakery. These guys would be in the back, carefully folding taro into buns or delicately frosting cakes, and the locker room at Gold’s Gym was less full of testosterone.

Another thing is that let’s face it, masculinity really doesn’t have much to offer, and I wouldn’t blame anyone for wanting to duck it regardless of gender. There’s a lot of good to be found in all the MANLY stuff, but none of being brave, athletic, stoic, hardworking, responsible, or whatever takes cojones as a prerequisite, and it all gets so weaponized against you if you’re AMAB. Which okay I know being AFAB sucks worse, but.

Take all that away and you’re left with what, 30% of the time where it’s useful to know the endocrine definition of someone’s body to figure out industrial design, epidemiology, whatever, and even then that says so little about a person’s identity.

Then we get into pre-teen/20-something/20-something with PCOS/post-menopausal body are all pretty different endocrinology and that could easily be the same individual anyway, before you even get into how they perceive themselves.

I feel like most of why we even have a gender binary is really callous. In older days it theoretically defined which variety of terrible job you had (the dichotomy of men going to mill, field, mine, dock or railyard while their wives did backbreaking but probably less lethal work at home sure didn’t apply to say, immigrant communities in NYC) and now that work’s differently brutal it largely exists for marketing. Buy x skirts, buy y motorcycle, join z army, do a at church.

I really really hate this open office setting. I feel constantly watched and it plays into feeling like I constantly fuck up, which certainly doesn’t make me feel better and I don’t think it makes me work better.
