Rain Dog boosted

Would love to learn more about these depression-era organizations. They seem to have fallen to the wayside because of New Deal policies that often intentionally undermined mutual aid and cooperative networks. Maybe today, since the government is so unlikely to repeat the New Deal, we can make a stronger version of these networks...

Remembering sad events on super crowded BART

dramatization of my morning, scatological reference

* yawns, stretches
Me: mnnn, I like sleeping on my back, it really relaxes my arms.
My gut: RRRRRrumble squueak *cramp* hey guess what you need to do? YOU NEED TO SHIT.
* shits
Me: gonna clamber back into bed, see if I can get another hour. Sleep is so good! What time is it anyway? *clik*
* alarm clock shows 6:29 exactly
Me: oh well there’s that

A thing which was going on prior to The Month of Anxiety Driven Sleep Dep seems to be consistent here now; my body and brain apparently needs a cool down of about 2 hours, I kinda messed that up last night.

Unrelated, folds in clothing are really cool and I right now really want to draw a batch of them and try to push dimensionality. That's probably not a good excuse to ditch work early tomorrow, right?

Oh yeah, the greatest punk album ever. There are Yes tracks longer than the entire album.

Oh, West Oakland. So full of oaklanditude. (Compared to Temescal, which is full of oaklandification.)

GDYEH ZHEH MISTRA?
* the best part of the movie, paladin vs. death knight in single mounted combat!*

movie quotes

They can’t be taken by the sword, now.

* minor key Prokofiev intensifies *
* shield wall, enfilading crossbow fire *

Heroic tension ramping up in Prokofiev’s “The Battle on the Ice” completely dissipated by remembering “Thripshaw’s Disease! Discovered by E Henry Thripshaw! I’ll make a musical! I’LL SELL THE FILM RIGHTS!”

Took 12 customers from coworker who’s on vacation (yes at month end/a FY close. No, I’m not stoked). Other coworker took 3 since one has a short funding procedure I’ve never seen previously. Have been contacting customers and insurance all morning, and processing all of this and stuff resolved from last week.

I’d much rather figure out more about drawing horses.

Kudt, sui mention, dysphoria?

Y’know. “Been A Son,” sounds vaguely trans-ish, and you could probably make a point for someone having SOME sort of gender dysphoria who 1) tried hard to be a manly man (guns, marriage and kid, football at father’s insistence) 2) didn’t exactly succeed, 3) wore makeup and wished they were Gay but were female biased, 4) deeply unhappy, abuse survivor, homelessness, suicide, thought they weren’t human as a kid 5) feminist very close to women (aunt, Kathleen Hanna).

coyote sing along hour, kudt yelling this early in the morning?

I’m worst at what I do best
And for this gift I feel blessed
It’s hard to bar gargle zouf
With all these marbles in my mouth!

the question of “who’s your favorite comic book female character?” brings up Autumnlands. @emanate can probably guess who.

But darnit she was only in three issues or so! Which is too bad cause she’s awesome and I’d read an entire series about her.

Also people what created her Imagecomics Wikia page? SHE’S NOT A FOX.

went to one of my art heroes for ideas. Two of three copied pages and a page of trying to do it myself with no model.

movie quote, vaguely political

They’re turning us around. They’re taking us back to Germany.

song lyrics, pooptoot

Go now and don’t look back!
Bring my greetings to the Greek king!

* “Burning Homestead” has a minor, shifted slow rephrase of the Jawa music. Likewise “Destruction of Alderaan” is the princess rephrased.

* there’s a whole piece for the princess which is very much a romance/love theme and never shows up intact in the movie, I think Williams wrote it as something to reference rather than for direct use.

*”Cantina Band I” is a Benny Goodman reference and the pacing is “Sing, Sing, Sing.” “Cantina Band II” is more Glenn Miller and less a specific track.

Show thread

Listening to the Ep IV soundtrack again and trying to think about it;

* harp and triangle get used sparingly. They’re always cues that something magical is happening, that we’ve gone away from technology into fantasy.

* more aware of things as rephrased Luke’s leitmotif/main theme, how stormtroopers get a leitmotif

* lumpish ungrateful stuff gets bassoon and tuba. Jawas and oddly the trash compactor as though it’s alive.

Anyway; do you think I should tighten drawings from earlier this week, or should I practice faces, horse anatomy, or brainstorm spaceships?
