@starkatt Perhaps not the answer you wanted, but... replay memories? Is that a thing people do?

@pollomostro@mastodon.art The art program kidpix comes to mind, but I think that wasn't around until well after the amiga's time.

Is a four-legged mathematician a calculataur?

@Terrana@tootplanet.space I bet you could find some people to contribute on here.

@teradyne@blimps.xyz Now you've got me thinking about fictional technical/academic writing. Papers in the prestigious Journal of Applied Thaumaturgy, datasheets for magitek components, hyperdrive user's manuals...

@lizardsquid What is this DE? It has a pleasing appearance to it.

@teradyne@blimps.xyz We've started trying LyX out for academic writing. It's really nice how it skirts around the "how do I format this" issues. The main reason we're using it is because it supports LaTeX, though.

We are finally back to what passes for normal for us. Back home.

@starkatt Semiconductors are in that area of advanced physics that doesn't really make all that much sense even after you've mastered the concepts.

@starkatt Our engineering classes covered things like the Tacoma Narrows Bridge, and that one hotel disaster, and the Challenger explosion. Not software problems, though.

Good thing about getting a ps vita: It was such a commercial failure that even the good games for it are pretty cheap, even brand new.

And despite being a commercial failure it has a good selection of games, from what we've seen. Quite a few JRPGs, including one game we bought but haven't played yet, called Exist Archive, that's been called the spiritual successor to Valkyrie Profile, so that's exciting!

Very tired this evening... I think we're going to go to bed earlier than usual. Goodnight!

The PS Vita is odd. Why did they put a touch sensor on the back of it?

@literorrery @ElectricKeet Are you on Linux or Windows? Linux has compose functionality native, and Windows you can get a great program called WinCompose (which uses the same .Xcompose format), that we use for all sorts of special characters. Felthry put in an entire upside-down alphabet once.

@literorrery That's actually a really good point! (I'm assuming you mean /tθ/ and /dð/?)

I mean, sure, the reason they aren't used is historical, like everything else to do with language. But they're nice sounds!

There are a few consonant clusters that don't occur in English, yet feel like they'd fit in perfectly fine, and I can't imagine why they aren't used. Specifically, /sv/, /sɹ/, /pf/, and maybe also /sf/, /bv/ and /kv/.
