@wire i was writing the thread not to invite help by well-meaning sysadmins, but to document how frustrating and user-hostile solving minor issues is on linux. the main thing i wanted to highlight was lack of discoverability. the problem i was having was extremely simple to solve - all it required was to become root & run two commands. but it took me 55 minutes to fix because i didn't know HOW to get the computer to tell me what the problem actually was.
@jk this language looks so ugly.

the main design flaw in microsoft windows it that it doesnt let you delete My Computer
