Also I know now JUST HOW FAR the character who hates hot places is going to need to travel to find someplace reliably cool. They live just south of the equator.
It's pretty far.
Me: "Hey wait, I've been doing this prep work for my game and inventing countries, but I don't actually know what their climates are like, I should look at that."
Me Later: "Shit, the tropics are huge and the subtropics are small. Is that right?"
Me Later: "Okay so I did it right this time and the tropics are still huge but it's like that on the real world in most map projections."
Me Later: "Spheres are WEIRD and so are planets but at least I know people in this empire are wearing shorts."

Still feeling pretty shitty about being called "he" nonstop last night.
Lost count of the number of times my Mom called me by a male pronoun. She didn't get it right once, even with me correcting her every time.
To be clear here, I don't _anticipate_ things going badly. I'm just... rather more aware that they might.
Will be leaving to visit the parents for an early hatchday thing in a couple hours. Already rehearsing mentally how things may go badly.

haha, at the hrt clinic here, and there's a student doctor here today. I noticed straight off that he had a badge clipped to his belt with a feminine name on it and while we were talking asked what pronouns I should be using for him.
Turns out it was a borrowed badge for him to get into the building, but it never hurts to check these things. He was quite surprised that I noticed!
