Movin'
Got all the big furniture moved over to the new place, thanks so much to @mawr and @kelseyhusky!
Tired, exhausted, and I'm sure I left something I need back at the old place... but I can get it tomorrow. Time to relax.
Well, as much as I can with everything still in boxes. o..O
MTG prerelease
2 and 2! I was playing Superfriends - Ugin, Vraska, On Nixilis, and Airlinn.
The Movie (UNSAFE, spoilers)
The reason they directly reference Back to the Future 2 is not because Alan Silvestri scored both films, but to remind you that you really shouldn't think too hard about time travel films. Don't think about the interweavings of cause and effect, don't try to track continuities, just let the movie carry you.
And enjoy the bit with the hammer.
building fire, anecdote
From https://www.futilitycloset.com/2012/12/01/edifice-complex/:
On visiting the Gold Pavilion Temple in Kyoto, Douglas Adams was impressed at how well the 14th-century structure had weathered the passage of time. His Japanese guide told him that it hadn’t weathered well at all; in fact it had burned to the ground twice in the 20th century.
“So this isn’t the original building?” Adams asked.
“But yes, of course it is.”
You haven't had to mow your lawn since all the were-hadrosaurs started moving in to your neighborhood. It's hard to argue with with that part of things, but all the late-night hooting is getting annoying.
Still... it's probably better than half the neighborhood getting drunk and slamming their car doors at 2am.
If you've ever been plagued by the Cisco hold music, I have chopped and screwed it for your listening pleasure or torment I suppose: https://instaud.io/3xzI
RPG thoughts (TAZ, no spoilers present I don't think)
So rolling things around in my head after finishing the Balance arc of The Adventure Zone... Griffin very definitely had a good recovery from a rocky start.
There were things that weren't great and there are things that he didn't handle well at all, but by the time we hit the last 10 or so episodes I was solidly emotionally invested enough for things to start hitting hard.
And I cried my eyes out at the ending too.
It's inspirational in a way. As much as I might criticize some of the presentation, the emotional impact is something that I want to be able to bring out in my games. Even before the endings, I want to tell stories with my players that make us all _feel_ things.
It's why I game - for story and for emotion. You could say for story and song.
Rare coastal dragoness, often found by sunny sea cliffs. Nonbinary but fairly femme-leaning. If you're under 18 don't follow.
