If there's drama going on, and you're not a direct participant, it's often better to observe quietly than to voice your take on it -- the resulting game of telephone can end up causing more harm overall.

Raccoons are not pets. They are wild animals, and they can be aggressive and violent.

=== Heat Wave PSA ===

One thing my mother has advised for people in the areas with 40c/104f weather is if you can, soak in a bathtub filled with cold water.

This is apparently a thing people used to do in the olden days to beat the heat, back before they had air conditioning.

Also, keeping cool is especially important for older folks, as the body has a harder time regulating its temperature as you get older.

uspol Roe v. Wade, health care, ableism & misogyny

I mean the fact that people with autoimmune diseases are being denied refills of necessary medication because those medications are also abortifacients (miscarriage-inducing medication) is obviously ableist and misogynistic violence. people.com/health/roe-v-wade-r

What I'd like to focus on, though, is that this kind of cruelty is not some kind of aberration but entirely consistent with anti-abortion ideology. If you truly believe fertilized eggs are babies whose lives should be protected at all costs, why SHOULD abortifacients be available to patients in pain, especially those with uteri? What is chronic pain and the disabling of tens of thousands of people compared to the potential ~murder~ of ~innocent babies?~ Why shouldn't people suck up preventable pain and immobility for the safety of the babies?

The so-called "pro-life" mindset is fundamentally anti-dignity and anti-human. Never forget that.

things dont suck as much as social media makes u think they do. the world is good and there are beautiful places protected by beautiful people whose infinite grace extends through you, innate to your being. there is a future worth fighting for and it is beautiful and it is bright and it is within our grasp

With much of Europe facing record levels of heat right now it feels like a good time to remind all my trans, nonbinary, and GNC friends:

If you take estrogen you are more sensitive to heat and more prone to heatstroke.

If you also take an SSRI like Citalopram or Sertraline you are even *more * sensitive.

Stay cool and safe, but do NOT stop taking your meds!

If you're stuck on starting something, put something down! You can change it later.

🎉 Big news: Tor Browser 11.5 is here! In this release, we're bringing you automatic censorship detection and circumvention, redesigned Tor Network settings, Firefox's HTTPS-Only Mode enabled by default, and improved font support.

Take a look at what's new in Tor Browser 11.5:

Was reading the wikipedia article on Potato Creek State Park, and can across this excerpt, describing the creation of a reservoir, Worster Lake:

'About a century after the area was converted into farmland (and as many fields were becoming less productive), Darcy Worster began re-creating natural areas, as well as lobbying to dam the creek to create a reservoir for fishing and recreation activities. He often sent hand-crafted insects to "bug" state legislators.'

Windows 11 is barely out, and Microsoft is already working on Windows 12 -.-

Rotterdam v Bezos' superyacht, +

"It seems the Dutch city of Rotterdam won't be dismantling a historic bridge so Amazon founder Jeff Bezos can sail his new superyacht through its waters. And for now it's unclear how the 417-foot-long (121 meters) yacht will leave the area, or if it'll even get finished."

Oh dear such a pity.
