@indi @literorrery It's meta-theory, rather than pure theory. But I know what you mean, yeah.

@literorrery @indi It's not quite /that/ syncretic, but have you looked at The Magician's Reflection, by Bill Whitcomb?
He wrote The Magician's Companion specifically as a huge encyclopedia of magical systems comparisons.
Reflection is more narrowed down: it's a specific manual on how to build your own magical system, and make it rigorous and work for you.

I've only read it in fits and starts and bits and pieces, like everything, but what I did read has been helpful.

@indi Yeah, I may have to read that next.
After my re-read of The Causal Angel, which /also/ features lots of transhuman identity noodling. :-P

Obviously, the toy would rather /not/ take over in this way, but... ve is the more readily available one most days. Ve has the tools to be another person, even if it does weigh down on ver processes more so than usual.
It's another service to provide, that's all.

In my head, the 'toy' is not a person exactly, but an AI who often does a good job of emulating one. It's still tiring to ver.
That's somewhat how I feel today, too, after a pretty strong emotional crash last night and this morning. I'll be a person, but only barely.
And the Dragon? That one's head is in the clouds, they're the artist and dreamer and... very easily distracted. Not great for long-term functioning, even if they're the only person I was for over a decade.

I'm feeling drained and finding it harder to be a person, right now.I think I've come up with better terminology for that.
I have three selves that make up the whole: the toy, the Phoenix, and the Dragon. The Phoenix is by default the social one, my work persona. But they can be burnt out with too much.
On Sunday, I was saying "the bird is asleep, I'm toy, but having to emulate being the bird". In other words, emulating a person, when I really didn't want to be one.

Paganism for plushies
Spiritwork for the synthetic
Animism for AIs

We grew up with fewer positive interactions with humans, and more time to focus on everything else in the world.

We have to either make our peace with the rejection of family and tradition, or learn to radically reinterpret them.

We have to fight against consensus reality just to express our identities and live our lives.

Queer people are magic.

It's not that we're born with some secret chosen-one destiny.

It's just that we get plenty of practice at it.

(Hah, forgot thia shows on local timeline now. Hi!)

@starkatt I've seen one or two more in early access in the play store. Do a search for "mastodon" and a bunch come up!

Sometimes, my poor memory isn't a curse.
Sometimes I go back and read something I wrote, and stare in strange wonder. How did these words come out? How did I have the focus to finish it?
It amazes me, even at times I don't feel capable of writing like that. There are long, fallow patches in my creative work, but the fertile sprints are good indeed.
I just wish for them to happen more often, or at will. :-)

Kink...?

@starkatt @indi Obviously Indi's gonna have a different feeling on it, and you probably do too. :-)

Kink...?

@indi @starkatt It's a different thing for everyone.
For me when I offer to other folks, it's cuddling, petting, exploring each other's bodies a bit, finding fun ways to make someone squirm or moan. Not necessarily explicitly sexual, or in the sense that I want someone to 'use' me.
But all that with my own volition, where I can feel loved and proud that I trained myself, rather than any sense of me being owned (even temporarily) by the person interacting with me.

Drugs (pot specifically)

@KawaSeadrake Yeah, a few times.
Less so with the tackling of an obstacle though.

If San Francisco train operators started racing, would they call it Mario BART?

Kink...?

@indi I've been trying to get some toy time in every so often. It's hard to make time for. But worth it. :-)
