@kobold no worries, hon. I know how it goes. I hope the week goes reasonably well for both of you. *sends many well-wishing hugthoughts*
We're seeking visually impaired or blind people with coding experience who want to help ensure solid screen reader behavior in a new iteration of the CodeMirror in-browser code editor. Accessibility in the previous iteration is terrible, and I want to do better this time around.
If you're prepared to answer questions about coding while blind, or to test-drive the current prototype of the editor, please get in touch here or via marijn@haverbeke.nl
@thephooka aigh, I usually hold off until Monday morning so I have something to look forward to, but I had to go read it and eeeeee! everything, the cat, the pride flag, Vlad... eeeeeeeee!!

twitter is not easy to use
twitter et al are « easy to use » now because we have been using them for years and years.
have you ever seen someone use twitter or facebook for the very first time? it’s fucking confounding.

« following? why would i do that? »
« why can’t i get to your uncle’s photos »
usability isn’t a secret UX sauce. it’s years of acclimation and the formation of communities that can bootstrap that acclimation for each other.

PokemonGo/bird nerding
oh sorry should have ended that with (2/2) but now there's this one so it's (3/3) and done!
PokemonGo/bird nerding
nearby--last year there were three fledglings, so I wouldn't be surprised if there's another three this year--and just as I was leaving that patch of forest I was buzzed by an adult hawk, probably checking up to make sure I wasn't going after the kids! :D then I got thoroughly scolded by a parent crow--I could hear the juvenile crow nearby, the adult was warning me away. because apparently I was a Cooper's hawk! XD
PokemonGo/bird nerding
took a brief walk down to one of the nearby gyms for a "raid" on a Magicarp (spoiler: I won), and on the way there heard whistling in the tree of a juvenile Cooper's hawk. :D so on the way back I paused to play Cooper's hawk calls on my Merlin app, and spoofed it down close enough that it was perched literally right over my head as it tried imitating the adult call in its cute whistling voice. SO CUTE. XD as I was leaving the area, I heard another juvenile whistling (1/?)
