I feel kind of bad for getting them all riled up, poor kids, but it's probably good for them to have "conflicts" like this under their feathery belts that they "won" by driving the intruder off without actually having to fight. XD it'll give 'em confidence! or something, idk? XD

while heading out to Costco earlier I heard one of the Cooper's hawk fledglings in the forest, so I played the adult call from the app on my phone, and ended up with two fledglings perched about two yards over my head doing their best to intimidate the strange and persistent bird they could hear near me. XD it was so neat, watching them poof our their feathers and yell at me...

i’m done putting this bad boy together, not as effective as a regular AC but much better than a fan.
the cooler has salt water and ice packs together with a cheap aquarium pump, water is circulated through plastic tubing and a copper pipe in front of the fan to cool the air. there are tons of instructions for these on youtube and it’s pretty easy to put together.
total cost: around 50 euros and everything can be found at a hardware store. (for fellow swedes: biltema!)

@hummingrain yah, frozen "microwaveable." it's important for me to have quick sources of protein readily available, but I'm thinking these aren't gonna be it. still. >__<
I got super lucky with bread--Udi's is reliably good quality, tasty, relatively inexpensive, and readily available. between Udi's bread, bagels, and muffins, and Glutino's English muffins, cookies, and crackers, I have an overabundance of good glutiny-food substitutes! :D

@Corvusheart not to mention being *physically* dangerous to people with already fragile health. I remember the last heat wave in London *killed* several people, mostly elderly folks.

@Kistaro look at it this way: you may be endangering or taking away their job, but they were endangering not only their own life, *and* yours, but also those of every other driver and pedestrian they passed. some people *need to not be driving so much*.
one of my former housemates had a job driving a van for a company until he got into an accident and they fired him. he was upset, but knowing his driving habits, I was just relieved nobody was seriously injured--or killed. :|
