PSA: of most help for people who're old enough that they forgot to cash checks from businesses at some point.
Each US state has an unclaimed property office where businesses send the money from such transactions. The people who never cashed the checks still own the $. Search the state's unclaimed property site, follow instructions, and lo! money. Some things may require a notary.
(We'll have more than $100 we weren’t planning on. This will be helpful, even though it’ll take a few weeks.)
