wildlife rehab: baby bird feeding (training edition)
so next Wednesday I return to weekly volunteering and stuffing food into bird faces basically forever! <3
wildlife rehab: baby bird feeding (training edition)
I got to hand-feed a couple of juncos and robin fledglings, I learned about crops, and I skipped the paperwork and t-shirt session at the end because done that, got one. :D all the raccoons and bear cubs have been released, btw, and the bobkittens are scheduled for release Friday! right now they've got a couple of short-tailed weasels which I will probably never get to glimpse. XD

CW covers the context! feeding baby birds looks like it's going to be particularly interesting and satisfying for me, though we'll see how I feel about it after a couple of months--I expect I'll be happy to get back to the variety of tasks upstairs once August rolls around. we have a couple of "mystery jellybeans" in the nursery that are "probably crows," though nobody knows for sure, but they're *big*--6" long?--and *hungry*. XD
US Politics, Net Neutrality (+++)
The Senate passed the Congressional Review Act to reverse the FCC's repeal of net neutrality under Ajit Pai. :D

mostly that while capitalism commodifies it because it commodifies EVERYTHING, storytelling has been a massive part of human cultures since we invented stories
it's been a huge part of how we understand and contextualize the world and a huge part of how we entertain ourselves for a very long time

experimental foodthing (mammal meat)
I only got 1 lb of water buffalo, though, so the other lb is regular cow beef, so it'll be a mix. the water buffalo had an--interesting smell; Spouse thought it was really strong, but this is his first time prepping mammal meat since his surgery, and it didn't seem particularly strong to me, just--different. I'm looking forward to it!
tonight's dinner is fish and rice--basic, it's about all we have energy or appetite for...
