as I was leaving with Pooka, I saw the wheeled carriage being brought out, with no pixie-bob. and now I'm tearing up thinking about it. but if he went in love, with care, in peace and comfort... that's really all any of us can ask, until/unless we figure out some kind of immortality.

as I was coming in, another human was bringing in a cat in a wonderful wheeled carriage kitty carrier, and I WANT ONE OF THOSE. the kitty was a huge long-haired pixie-bob--I thought he was a Maine coon at first. unfortunately, he was very lethargic, and his human said he probably wouldn't be going home. the human was much calmer about it than I would have been in their place, but obviously deeply sad.

I'm still not sure if I'm actually going to post it to AO3 when I'm done, or give it a third go-over, or just... leave it on my computer forever. the initial goal was to publish it right around the time the next Thor movie comes out, to generate some views... which I can still do, if I push myself some, since that's in November. plenty of time, right? *eheh*

on the other hand, rewriting the already completed Loki story is actually helping that, because it was clumsy at first--so rewriting these first chapters at least is letting me *fix* stuff that I didn't realize was bad to begin with. XD

one of the hardest parts of getting back into writing after an extended break, for me, is getting past the point of being horrified by the quality of what I'm writing. as with most skills, if I stop writing for a while, I get out of practice. getting back into practice is painful, because I can see just how badly I'm doing, even while I'm having to push myself to keep going. the only way past it is through, but that's a hard road to climb with depressive tendencies.

okay! Pooka is home, smells like rubbing alcohol 'cause they took some blood samples. dx is allergy to something, who knows what--not fleas, 'cause he doesn't have any bites--rx is short course of steroids & a specific kind of over-the-counter anti-allergy med, which I don't have but will probably get tonight. no infection, he's otherwise in really good health for being 11 years old. :D

just today while eating my lunch, I saw one crow, one starling, and two chickadee fledglings. it's easy to tell which ones are fledglings--they make a lot of noise, and the parents fly back and forth grabbing food to stuff down the kids' throats as fast as possible. XD

got an appointment for today at 2. most stressful part of doing that will almost certainly be arranging the ride there with Lyft. one of the few times I really wish I had access to a car, but I can't carry a cat carrier to the bus stop, much less all the way to the vet. Pooka would deal with it better than Nar (and isn't nearly as heavy), but still. le sigh...

and now, time to call the vet to make an appointment for Pooka... he's okay, mostly healthy, just has a sore on his chin that he keeps scratching open, and I want them to check that out. I'm really not looking forward to the possibility of having him wear a cone, but if it's needed... :P
