Did not expect a personality-typology article about the MtG color wheel would make me cry, but here we are:
This is everything I want to be, and it helps me see how to get there and yet how far off it still is.
@indi Wow. That's...a pretty strong ideal for me, too.
Got a link to that article?
(I already knew I was red and blue, but the green in there is...interesting.)
"Achilles from The Iliad is black/red, as is the political persona of Donald Trump and the protagonist of The Fountainhead, Howard Roark."
That's it I'm never playing red/black decks again.
@somekindofcrow Yeah TBH all the philosophy-of-black stuff I've read really just drives home why it never really bothered me back in high school when my Christian mom said "okay you can play it as long as you don't use the black cards". ;)
It always sorta gave me bad feels.
@indi Yeah that makes sense.
See the thing is I did play exclusively red/black decks in middle school and that kind of does describe my mindset in middle and early high school. I mean that person is dead at this point, but I still feel called out. :)
I think right now I'm more red/blue/white, but not necessarily in the way that they described it...
@somekindofcrow To be clear, I don't think someone's taste in game flavor has anything to do with their personality in a general sense, but you may've already noticed that I'm one of those folks who's basically ALWAYS playing for bleed. ;)
@somekindofcrow And now I'm curious; what's your take on R/U/W?
@indi Structure, Creativity, but not so much Heroism. Red/White don't balance on that axis. It swings back and forth like a pendulum.
@indi Mmmm. Having read the article, I could make an attempt at breaking it down a bit.
Obviously this is going to be self-selection, but as the author mentions, it's a nice "intuition pump" (love that term).
I most strongly identify with the blue/red/green triad (with some white splashed in). But if I break it down by selves...
Lai is blue/red, no question.
Toy is definitely red/green.
Yori is...potentially blue/green, though it feels more of a stretch. But might be a direction to look.
@emanate Yeah oddly enough I did that same breakdown with my antecedents and got one color-pair for each too. :) It actually helped me rethink some of my spark/steel/smoke stuff too which made for an interesting lot of thinking last night.
@indi Hmm. I think I fall in as Blue/Green? Not sure on the rest though. XD
@indi One criticism of the article I will make, is that they have blacks dystopia wrong. Blacks dystopia is less "brutal dictatorship", and more "defect-defect in the prisoners dilemma", or "everyone's a stupid shitty asshole all the time." :/
@literorrery Yeah, thought you might. :)
@indi what does it say about Blue Black?
@reibeatall I goofed and forgot to link the original article, it is here: https://medium.com/@ThingMaker/the-mtg-color-wheel-c9700a7cf36d
@indi This is deep, holy crap
@indi Huh. Those are definitely my colors, but not exactly how I'd express them there. Can't argue with that interpretation though, and it certainly suits you. n..n
@indi ... no, okay, that's like 90% of what I want too. Heh.
Whoops, article link:
