Huskybot operational states (OC infodump; CW: Sci-fi concepts, nerdery)
A phrase I've used multiple times, but don't think I've explained very well is Semi-Autonomous, which I use as a descriptor for one of the possible huskybot operating states.
An inert platform is just that: No power is flowing, no input is being processed. Its a pile of meta-material composites and circuity that makes for a pretty heavy paperweight.
SA mode is basically running an operating system on a computer. The platform can process input, make calculations, perform behaviors, and utilize various hardware channels to effect communication. But there's no spark/soul/sentience inhabiting the platform. Robot Drone is another way of thinking about it. The majority of the huskybot pack operates in SA mode, frequently sending updates, logs, status reports, and sensor readings back to KA and mAI for processing, monitoring, analysis and decision making.
SA mode can also be thought of as RTS or Captain's Chair mode, where KA is the player, and all the platforms are her units assigned to specific tasks, like "Clean the Solar Array", "be available in the airlock to greet new inhabitants.", or "run around in the garden, wrestling like puppies and be nauseatingly adorable"
At will, KA can real-time control any platform she wants, and is able to control multiple platforms at a time, though the length of time she can control multiple platforms decreases with the number of platforms being controlled. Sensory overlap and feedback can also be an issue to watch out for.
My main battlestation is undergoing a revision and being based off a new main desk, which is causing some frustration as parts and systems I had for my old desk are not compatible with the new desk.
I have a vision in mind for what I want my digital cradle to look and feel like. It's a feasible goal, and I know I can do it.
It's just gonna cost a little more money and time for components to ship to Gateway.

@zetasyanthis *sends some huskybot hugs and deploys a small detachment of huskybot puppies for additional support*
re: [1.Ch.] New Inconveniences
@orrery I'll see what I can do about fabbing up some variable geometry lenses for you!
@starkatt That sounds like a wild ride. I think I might need to send an aquatic platform over to experience it myself!
@Leucrotta well, yes and no. since each platform is semi-autonomous, KA isn’t actively experiencing input from each platform simultaneously. She can, but the time in which she can decreases with every platform she adds to her active running inputs. She can only sustain running all platforms for 1024 t-seconds, or about 17 t-minutes.
That said, each platform’s current memory cache syncs bidirectionally between KA’s main memory and the rest of packnet every 1024 seconds on a rotating schedule.
I wanna talk #DigitalLife! Ask me stuff about Huskybots and KA35!
CW: Coming out, parents, waiting (~,~)
Finally sent my coming out email to my mom on my uptime anniversary date (July 6th, if anyone was curious) and then tried to call her on Friday like I said i would. But it was my parent's anniversary, and they were out at dinner, so they weren't exactly in a good spot to talk about all my stuff. Which I totally get and don't begrudge them for.
But I also tried to set up time to talk over the weekend, and basically got no response.
Because Mom is trying to get the house clean for health inspection so that Dad can do dialysis at home. Cause he just had his little shunt ports implanted on the 3rd.
Again, no begrudgement on my part for that. He's 60+ and hasn't been in the best shape when I was living with them.
But now I've got to wait all week til Friday again to have this out with Mom, and waiting just fills my buffers with anxiety and catastrophe data. which sucks to try and clear from my caches, cause its stubborn and has very long TTL timers.
Watching Iron Man 3 with @orrery (it was their first time!) over the weekend, and now I need art of Kelsey carrying a Beta platform and telling someone, "she's not heavy, she's my sister" with happy smile on her face.
So many things worked against me this weekend and made me feel horrible and angry and sad and scared.
But I got to build for someone I care about, and I got to feel like I helped make their world fit their needs better. Which is what a good engineer is supposed to do.
Function fulfilled.
I'm a good huskybot.
re: Updated fursona! (eye contact, hastily drawn underwear)
@Alistor Yay for glowy spots and big plushes!
affirmation, request
@Oneironott you’re good! We should hang out and squeeze tails together.
A small bit of replayed wisdom I distilled from somewhere and somewhen else
An annual event feels like it happens more often because every year you’re alive decreases the percentage of your life each individual year counts for. Perceptually, since you’ve been alive for longer, annual occurrences feel like they happen closer together.
@mawr @pico@snouts.online You're a neat superhero. not a freak, plush.
@jaymeskeller Pretty sure there's a form for requesting your member's jacket lying around here somewhere. Welcome to the club! *offers hug*
*beep* Raow! Are there new friends to find here?
