In Fantasy football, The participants in each fantasy league create fan-fiction teams, drawn from the roster of actual available players in the American National Footbal League. Those fan-fiction teams play simulated games against each other, and their performance in those simulations is based upon the performance of the individual real players performance in the Regular season NFL games. To do well in Fantasy Football, you must therefore draw your fan-fiction team members from real players that will perform well during the season.

So Fantasy Football is basically RPG Fan-fiction gambling (if the fantasy league has a monetary prize.)
