For folks unaware, today is Guy Fawkes Night (or Bonfire Night) in the UK. This is a celebration, held every 5th of November since 1605, of the failure of an attempted terrorist attack that tried to blow up both the government and King James I at the state opening of Parliament.

Watching a Trek episode set in the ‘past’ six years from now, where America has gone to shit because of a lack of jobs and readily available healthcare.

Seems realistic.

I foolishy let @ripp_ into my flat, and left them alone by my pc

re: Apple saga

@stuart_otterson Mmmm, I'd think you'd still struggle to do a lot of development stuff on an iPad, no matter how much Apple market it as a computer replacement—I think that's only really true for media consumption and light productivity, not for proper work-work.

I got from an article about a prison to an article about theological paradoxes in three clicks. I'm good at Wikipedia, seemingly.

re: GBBO

@Sosh Rahul is cursed, I swear.

re: GBBO

@Sosh They have, but they didn't do that last series when the door fell off someone's oven, which I felt was totes unfair.

GBBO

"I like fantasy and I feel like I live in a fantasy land anyway."

GBBO

I want Kim-Joy to win (and have since the first episode) but I'd be totes okay with Rahul taking it if it just gave him some of his desperately lacking self-esteem.

@Doggo The Guardian is definitely centre left, yeah. But it's the best of a not great bunch, unfortunately!

re: GBBO

@Sosh I knoooow, it's just a comparison D:

@Doggo Yeah, I'm aware. I've kinda attributed to The Guardian tending to have a stance of "all opinions are valid," which is why their opinion pages have hosted prominent conservatives like David Cameron before.

GBBO

@Sosh They look more like steam buns than doughnuts.

@Doggo Although imperfect I'd say The Guardian is good enough.

Founded as the result of the Peterloo Massacre, only major paper to not be owned by a media oligarch, only one to have won the Pulitzer Prize, has been instrumental in lots of big stories (Trafigura scandal, Snowdon leaks), and runs a chariable foundation. It's bounds above any of the others we have, IMO.

@Doggo The Daily Express is just as bad as the Mail too. Worse in some situations, like its proclivity to publish straight up conspiracy theories.

Apple Event - October 2018

The new iPad Pro has the same graphics performance as the Xbox One X. Huhwow.
