I need money to survive, it would be neat if someone paid me to make some images

pitch: a video game character creator that just has one slider and it's labeled "anime", the higher it goes the more anime your character becomes

@it_wasnt_arson@queer.party @someonetellmetosleep@queer.party @tom that's right: OEMs replaced a feature with something worse in every way for almost no reason

@tom I mean companies do that even when it's a standard thing. half the time when they have some stupid £80 proprietary dongle they stop selling it after 3 months, which I'm sure is very profitable for them

@tom the fun thing is standards make everything cheaper and easier for everyone, so this is just OEMs being shite because they can

@tom my laptop's usb C has a HDMI adapter. it might work with other HDMI adapters, but you'll just have to find out which ones c;

@tom by reliant I mean you have to have standards for literally any of this to work ever

@tom for being by far the most reliant on strict adherence to standards, consumer electronics is really bad at it.
capitalism works thought right

@tom not if you industry has a poor track record regarding standards, no

@tom why are you blaming this behaviour on a cable instead of apple, who have never heard of a standard and constantly do whatever they feel like to everyone's detriment, their own included (and whatever idiot controller they put in that PC)

@envgen sounds motherboard related. if its modern-ish the components should have been protected

@envgen just in time, then. reminds me of the time at my first job when I was testing older machines to see if they would boot and one just loudly exploded in my face

@Nine the N64 was significantly more powerful in terms of raw component specs but all the components were connected up such that they had to take turns accessing a single bank of memory which badly damaged the systems ability to do anything well
