@phildini It's a corporation, and as such it exists to make money. This means there are things they do that can't help but be supportive of the status quo. If you can live with that, they won't mess things up too badly.
LB: I work for a company doing online transcoding and publishing for content providers. Products like OwnVideo are a direct challenge to our business model as it stands today, because we assume a few singular pipelines with defined-in-advance endpoints. I would love to see OwnVideo or something like it succeed, even knowing it could directly hurt my company's bottom line unless we adapt to the possibility of building short-term-use transcoding pipelines on demand.
LOLling at Google:
>> It’s gotten so bad that #Google has even taken down their own #YouTube videos due to clearly fraudulent copyright claims. <<

@adeptomega *offers hugs* All will be well, I hope.
There are parts of this game that remind me of everything I hated about Texas.
There are parts of this game that don't make any sense to me at all.
We're at the first party in the woods. I think those happened when I was in high school. I never went to them. I never got invited to them, but I assume they happened. I heard about them from Mitchell.
@adeptomega is playing Night in the Woods in the living room.
I don't think I'm going to be able to make it through this.

Invocation of Virgo
Sun and Moon rise and fall. Stars turn. Red leaves return to earth, and the first fruits of labor are ready to harvest.
Spirit of Virgo, trembling earth, I invite you to make your mark upon me, to shake my complacency, to remind me never to settle, to keep me performing at my peak.
Xalki, carver, thank you for your focus. Your attention to detail helps me discover where my efforts most matter. May I be as mindful as I bring my creations into the world.
The Work Continues.
Capitalism
@IrisKalmia That's wholly legit. I'm not happy about _having_ to work, to be sure, but I draw an internal categorical distinction between the necessary evil of getting paid for my skills and the unnecessary evil of working for companies whose mission statements are opposed to mine. To the extent that _all_ corporate work is immoral by my standards, some forms are less immoral than others. I understand your struggle, and I wish you well in your processing.
Capitalism
@IrisKalmia Having hopefully addressed the confusion, were there other questions I could answer regarding my response? I'm happy to talk about my thoughts in more detail, but only if it's wanted.
@LensaMoon@mastodon.art @Metaph@scalie.business If they would interest you, I wrote up a couple of essays on "what I think postfurry is," speaking as somebody from the inside, but as in all things, they're my definitions from a specific point in time with a particular history and context. I never know how useful they'll be to anyone else.
Capitalism
@IrisKalmia I did explicitly reference the film's name to try to eliminate the ambiguities. Sorry that didn't work.
Capitalism
@IrisKalmia The character I'm quoting is from a movie. He's called Stonewall 'cause he's queer-coded in an 80s film about the toxicity of television preachers starring Tom Curry as a televangelist.
Capitalism
@IrisKalmia To quote from Stonewall Jackson in "Pass the Ammo": doesn't matter where you're at outside; it matters where you're at inside. I care about my skills and my abilities. Not performing them well would be anathema to me. I have pride in my craft, and my reputation matters to me. Whether or not I'm working for money. the same basic values apply.
@hellojed@mastodon.social She and Falco have an awkward relationship; none of his wisecracks are funny to him when they come out of her muzzle. He's too strung out to fly, but he makes a great coach. Krystal doesn't approve of her daughter's career, but she knows Andross is the real enemy, and this let's her see her old flame again. Slippy's made improvements to the old Arwing design, but they only have the prototype.
