"These antibiotics are broad-spectrum and they're making me sick to my stomach. I should eat something probiotic to restore my gut flora. What's got healthy bacteria around here? Oh, hey, yogurt. That's a great idea. And now I need some vitamin C to boost my immune system. Hey, mangoes have a lot of vitamin C!"

"Are you seriously about to make a mango smoothie for health, buni?"

"... yes. Yes I am."
politics, violence (nazi-punching)
i really didn't want to have to talk about this, but it's clearly not a problem that's going to go away. here's my thoughts on nazis: https://φ.cc/nazis.html
In case you haven't seen it:
"This is meant to be an interactive flow chart for people who struggle with self care, executive dysfunction, and/or who have trouble reading internal signals. It's designed to take as much of the weight off of you as possible, so each decision is very easy and doesn't require much judgment."

Today's term of the day: hapax legomenon!
A hapax legomenon is a term that appears exactly once in a given corpus.
Frex, in all the Latin text from classical Rome that's survived to the modern day, the verb "circummingere" appears once, in the form "circumminxit", in Petronius's "Satyricon". "circummingere" means "to urinate around", and is used in the description of a magic spell a werewolf uses to turn his clothes to stone (by pissing in a circle around them) before he goes off to maraud.
Writing
I work best when I have a deadline, and today was no exception. Last week's writing time Went Funny-Shaped for reasons which aren't worth investigating and my deadline for my next writing circle's critique session was tonight.
*cracks knuckles* Final word count, 5518. Total work time, seven hours. And it doesn't suck, though it's in sore need of an editing pass.

Magic
Refinement is the step on the process that follows sublimation. The Work, once thought successful, has encountered a setback. Problems have been discovered only after the work has started. Perhaps the material wasn't refined enough. Perhaps the directions weren't followed. Perhaps what we thought was gold was pyrite, or copper may have been bronze. Whatever the cause, the time has come to step back, reconsider in light of the new data, and try again.
Bodies, Medical
Recurrence of symptoms while writing at the Panera. Bad enough pain on voiding that I swung by urgent care on the way home. Pus and blood in the "sample" means I was right; it's a bladder infection. Cipro, azo, and CBD. Hopefully well enough to head to work tomorrow; being well enough to work in this case specifically means not being in pain, not having the threat of pain hovering over my attention span, and not having to run to the bathroom every five minutes.
Annnnnd done! Visually at least. Still needs a coat of finisher. And the inscriptions on the side. And a dedication ritual. And and and. But, this was the scary part. And I'm pretty dang happy with it.
